Forums - Sales - Others Sales UP!

PS3 is down because the 360 is taking its sales in the UK..

the 360 is very cheap in the UK, like 150 while the ps3 is 300 in the UK, in fact in other european territories its as cheap as the ps2.. Until the ps3 could get a cheaper price, I don't think it can really do much in significant YTD sales in europe. It's selling well but being down YTD shows me it's beginning to reach its market saturation at that price point.

BTW this could be a week were PS3 outsells Wii world wide once again..

You obviously dont know what you are talking about. i Live in Portugal and i went to spain many times every 6months and here Ps2 is at 99euros or below and 360 is at 270euros... Iberia.

30% down for the wii is significant. PS3 down is also significant - really didnt expect that until September.

The 360 is now stealing sales from both of them imo.

Wii has a very interesting christmas approcahing... I think I may have overpredicted for them for the holidays.

Adjustments for 360 and PS3 too... nice.

I wouldn't say the Xbox 360S is stealing sales. I would say the Xbox 360 is taking back sales which were stolen due to fears of reliability / wifi / noise / perception issues if at all. I don't think its convincing people who would have only considered getting a PS3/Wii before to get an Xbox 360.

But as for everything else, I agree. What is of interest to me is whether or not the slump in sales is also a reflection of saturation in the market place. The gaming market has gotten older and the people can obviously afford more expensive consoles. If the revision had launched last year, would the Xbox 360 be down similarly without the short term sales boost its getting?

Tease.

epic DS sales and DQ IX showing good legs

Now everything they have done  this year will go to waste in just a couple of weeks and where back at the gap op 9mill

Even 360 selling more than PS3 per week, the GAP is decreasing because the adjustments done after some weeks.

PS360 GAP by Sony: 3.6M (shipped)
PS3360 GAP by VGC:  5,263,587

* VGC number is now about 200k lower than last week/month.
* PS3 market share grow up 0.2% last two week.

it was 4.6 before now 5.3 So decreasing ????

When?

02nd Jan 2010: 5,886,921

By Sony yes... but by VGC no... please help me to find GAP below 5M... because after adjustments the GAP is always over 5M (I will check more data).

I don't think it's wise to be making any hard and fast judgments in regards to YOY performance considering how subject to change our EMEAA numbers are. This week's adjustments should be evidence enough of that. Wait till we have Gfk numbers at the end of the year.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

The thing is with this gap i think as more evidence is released we are seeing that Sony might have messed up a little and those numbers are misleading. Because Sony themselves this year said they expect just 7% of the market in Germany this year while expecting 360 to have 14%. Which means Sony themselves for 2010 said 360 will outsell PS3 by 2 to 1 in Germany. So we know that the two biggest regions for gaming in Europe (UK and Germany) have 360 above PS3. Which means what other countries in europe could make up that 3m difference? It looks more and more likely Sony simply either over-shipped or maybe got their numbers wrong, it wouldn't be the first time a company has done that.

At the end of the year Chart Track will release the numbers. I expect that were see numbers to be in line with what VGC have. Why do i think that? Because in Sony's recent report they announced for the past 3 months how many consoles they sold/shipped. If you add up the numbers on here for that period you see VGC was about 300k out. Since we had adjustments recently i imagine the number will be a lot closer. Which means VGC and Sonys figures for the period are in line with each other. WHich just makes the additional 3m gap thing look bogus in my opinion.

They overshipped?

How?

I mean they sell/sold the 120gb ps3s for 300 just like the 160 gb versions, that means they hadnt much left at retailers
