It's considerably more effort than sitting down and writing a review, it's damned near impossible to edit, and it may not be hard for you, but you won't be presenting the video reviews.

Why ? Is someone afraid to reveal his girly voice to all of Vgchartz ?

Please feel free to sign up and do the video reviews for us. We won't pay you, of course.

Meh...I was hoping for an angrier response..

But why are you so against the prospect of video reviews ? It'll only help the site. It would be cool imo, and you will probably be able to get the resources to do it once ioi's paid subscription plan starts.

And if you're that desperate to hide your girly voice, you can get someone manly enough to do it for you....

And I'm still waiting for that picture of you

Because it's a huge amount of work, and at the end of the day, nobody will watch them, because if you want to watch a video review, you go to GameTrailers.

You get some game footage which you're actually allowed to use.

You design the graphics

You use video editing software to put the graphics and footage together.

You find some footage which corresponds to what you want to write in the review.

You talk about exactly what is going on in the video.

You somehow get this copy/content edited by the editors

You find somewhere to host this video (we're not putting them on YouTube. That would defeat the entire purpose).

That's a lot more effort than 40 minutes spent, sitting comfortably, and writing, which is what we all signed up for.

VGC gets review copies so who aren't they allowed to do videos?

even if you aren't allowed you could do a youtube thing where people use the video

the graphic desgining is one time thing apart from some tweaks and can be used over and over again like IGN,Gamespot and GTn and so many more

putting the footage and graphics together is a kids game and is worth when site is getting hits

you can easily record game footage with those $10-20 screen capture cards

and most video reviews don't correspond to what is being shown on the screen

why not youtube,IGN,GT,etc does them? you could like embed them on the dite with your text review, get hits on VGC articles and even earn from youtube partners, this is mainly if you have a bandwidth cost

if you can bear the cost or find a way to do it then even better

the game footage can  done while playing the game and the editing doesn't take much time for a 3-5mins review

1) Review copies have nothing to do with it. You have to find footage you're allowed to use. Not easy.

2) Yes, but who's going to design the graphics?

3) Of course. That's the easy bit. But the site won't be getting hits. How many people from outside the site are going to come here to watch video reviews, when they can go to established reviewers and get a much better quality video?

4) Please link to where you can get one of those for $10. For one thing, they'll only work on PC and maybe the HD consoles. For another, playing through to the point in the game which you want to show is a pain.

5) Then they're bad video reviews.

6) GameSpot, IGN and GT are massive review sites. They have central offices, press contacts in every company, review copies for every game, full-time, fully-paid staff, proper video equipment and a huge fanbase. Don't compare us to them. Most of those YouTube reviews are really shoddily done.

Again, if you would be willing to do a video review, and to be a reviewer, contact Naz and sign up. I signed up for this job to be able to write reviews, not spend hours video editing them.

So I take it as you don't want to expand at all and remain as a small site hated by Neogaf ?

People would watch video reviews...I'm certain of that.

Oh, please. We're already bigger than NeoGAF.

Still...we're not that big...

We have to reach for the stars...be as popular as some of the other sites out there...that is entirely possible because we have sales, they don't ! We just have to improve everything else.

The thing is, VGChartz and gamrConnect will always be the most popular. The simple fact of the matter is that most people don't care about the other two sites. That's why news hits have plummeted since 3.0 launched. Review hits have only increased because we share a site with the Game DB.

It will be a long time before we will be regarded as a real review site, considering we're not even on Metacritic yet (it's happening soon, honest!), and quite a few sites on there are garbage. We don't want to make shoddy video reviews, and we don't have the resources to make proper video reviews, and we won't until reviews here become more popular.

For now, reviewing is a near-volunteer job, so it's just not feasible.

Listen to Stephen Fry. That's close enough to my voice (I wish).

what footage are you talking about, taking the footage is easy

and if devs are providing you copies to review then you should have the rights to use footage from the game

2) Yes, but who's going to design the graphics?

any of the site admins could or any of site's work force

now don't tell me that they don't know how to design graphics but know how to run this site

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCoZtgH5yKQ

there are not many graphics in the above video and even those are reuded over and over again and the rest is just game footage

3) Of course. That's the easy bit. But the site won't be getting hits. How many people from outside the site are going to come here to watch video reviews, when they can go to established reviewers and get a much better quality video?

you are never an established reviewer fromt he get go,you have to become one

and what the hell do you mean by better quality video

IGN still uses shit video quality, don't known about their premium subscibers and if you use youtube and embed it into your review article then it will be free and you can get it into the best quality

4) Please link to where you can get one of those for $10. For one thing, they'll only work on PC and maybe the HD consoles. For another, playing through to the point in the game which you want to show is a pain.

alrite i could find anything for $10 but i have seen them for $18 before fod SD video

the ones i seached now were for $80 and $120 for HD

but still that not that expensive when the site is making back the money

about playing from the paoint again, its not that dificult as you can keep the recorder wroking when you play and as it is before posting a review, you have to explore the areas in the game again to check if you missed something

5) Then they're bad video reviews.

6) GameSpot, IGN and GT are massive review sites. They have central offices, press contacts in every company, review copies for every game, full-time, fully-paid staff, proper video equipment and a huge fanbase. Don't compare us to them. Most of those YouTube reviews are really shoddily done.

i am not comparing, just saying that we have to start doing them.

and there are many youtubers that doing it very good

and also you don't have to do video reviews for every game but just a few of the top ones

Again, if you would be willing to do a video review, and to be a reviewer, contact Naz and sign up. I signed up for this job to be able to write reviews, not spend hours video editing them

i have been thinking of it,i have exams next month.i will make a sample after that

thats cause you guys abrubptly changed it and VGC users loved the dark feel and community feel before

and the main thing, they changed the name.they could have just kept it VGCFEEDZ,VGCCONNECTZ,VGCREVIEWZ
