it's a good start, I think BW will go farther than this, still a good 4 months before it comes out, I think it gives BW plenty of time to work out how newcomers will approach the story. hell they might even get a revised/re-edited version of ME1 just under a new name.

This is great, I didn't finish the first Mass Effect because it was a broken game with an interesting plot, now I can get the plot without the game and only hope that Mass Effect 2 is a much smoother game.

I wanna play ME2 ASAP, but I also wanna play ME1. No way I'm going to have a ME1 capable PC before Jan 2011. No way I'm going to have a 360 before Jan 2012, or even 2013.

I really hope they give the back story in a satisfying at least somewhat interactive way. This is a game franchise that momentarily drew me towards going with 360 this gen. But there were more reasons to stick with PS in the end. So bringing the franchise to PS3 is something I'm really happy about, if it's done well, because it means playing the game a lot sooner than I was expecting before this announcement came out.

Even if someone gets a "seamless introduction" The problem with that is the fact that you still don't have your choices intact from the first game. Sure you may be up to speed on the general story, but everyone will still have to play off of choosen desicions from developers and yourself in ME2 instead of choosen decisions you made based on your previous game and yourself. Just doesn't feel complete.....
