Honestly, who cares? They aren't advertising the game anymore, and it was one of the rare exceptions that the PS3 version was actually "superior" to the 360 one, so anybody acting like this is going to happen a plethora of times in the future is kidding themselves.

What does that have to do at all with the OP?

Fact is that if the game was advertising the XBox360 version it must contain only XBox footage, even if it isn't gameplay.

This is about what S-E did and was found guilty of, not about which console gets better looking multiplatform titles.

"A gaming expert yesterday warned the decision could hurt Microsoft, makers of the Xbox. ‘A ruling like this could prove devastating to sales of the Xbox, simply because gamers are a very demanding lot who expect the very best,’ said the anonymous expert.

How about that part, chief, or are you going to fly off the handle and ignore part of the article that you decided to make a thread off of?

What about it? It's part of the article, not to mention it has no relation at all to what I bolded in your post.

They are just saying that a ruling like this could have a negative effect on both companies.

Ha, wow, are you kidding me? Nevermind, I'm getting out of this thread before I say something I regret. And yeah, it has everything to do with the part you bolded.

If you did it I could care less. You're the only one in this thread turning this into a PS3 vs. 360 multiplat argument instead of actually focusing on the the reasoning for the article.

This would be like 2K making a commercial for Mafia 2 on PS3 and using PC footage.

Although I think that would be a MUCH bigger issue.

You can see in my sig I own FF13. As it's the last game I played. I have also extensively seen the PS3 version. And to be honest you cannot tell. Unless you video capture it and study it, they look Identical.

So I dunno.

But the way the commercial is, it's like M$ tagged there bit on the end. And it's not like the advert is giving the impression look at this 360 graphics. But saying look FF13 is here and available on 360.

All the footage was bloody CGI. So this is a moot point. The CGI is nearly identical.

I've gotta tell you, I love how many people on these boards apparently have gotten a degree in using strawmen. Why don't you go read the part I bolded, specifically the last part, and tell me that I'm trying to turn this into a multiplat argument. Oh hell, I'll spell it out for you. My point is, the first paragraph is a bunch of nonsense, because about 99% of multiplats are exactly the same now. Maybe if this happened to 100 other games advertised for the 360 would this hurt Microsoft, but do you honestly think anybody outside of gaming boards actually cares? That's my point. Not some "The Xbox 360 has better looking multiplat games than the PS3" BS argument that you've strawmanned me into having.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

The biggest difference between the PS3 and 360 versions is the CGI.

While I have never experienced it myself my buddy from work said that he noticed "blockiness" (What he called it) in the videos, especially in the black sky when Snow was on his bike with Serah during the fireworks display.

I have only seen the PS3 version so I can't confirm, but he doesn't visit gaming forums so I doubt he knew what to look for. I also can't comment if he saw it at any others points, the loser stopped playing FFXIII at Chapter 4.

I did read it and you went from an anonymous analysts opinion of why it could hurt MS to talking about how people are crazy if they think that a plethora of "superior" multiplats will end up on PS3. Here it is:

"it was one of the rare exceptions that the PS3 version was actually "superior" to the 360 one, so anybody acting like this is going to happen a plethora of times in the future is kidding themselves."

So, did I read it wrong? The way I read it could easily be read the same way, especially with the quotation marks around "superior". If I did read it wrong I apologize, but cut the condescending shit. You don't need to "Spell out" anything for me.

This whole thing could have been avoided by you simply saying that your plethora statement had to do with misleading commercials and not multiplat quality.

What I am saying that if a commercial is deemed as misleading, every person involved "could" experience negative backlash, this is why the analyst said what he did.

Also don't forget that MS is also mentioned because if I remember correctly didn't they pay for the advertising in the west?

I understand where you're coming from Euphoria, but... because this is a rare occurence of the PS3 version being "superior", everyone is damage controlling that fact to divert attention away to what has happened:

THEY USED AN ADVERTISEMENT WITH FALSE FOOTAGE FOR THE 360 VERSION. THE ANALYST IS SIMPLY SAYING THAT SINCE THEY WERE CALLED OUT FOR IT, THERE COULD BE NEGATIVE BACKLASH. NOT THAT THE PS3 WILL SUDDENLY HAVE DOZENS MORE "SUPERIOR" MULTIPLATS. THAT IS ALL!

I agree with you and that is why I posted this article from Metro.

I also think MS is brought into the whole picture because I could have sworn they paid for western advertising, thus the reason the commercial do not mention PS3 in any form, with that being why using PS3 footage is a big deal.

Themanwithnoname is themanwithalotofanger in this thread, relax dude, geez. One would think they are putting a lawsuit against you or something

Anywho no matter how one may spin this, it's wrong and will lead to unneeded bad publicity, especially in an important time like this. So ugh yeah lol that's all there is to it. I doubt this will become a huge deal tho, which for SE and MS sake I hope it doesn't.

let me see if i got this straight:

the commercial that fans gave them shit about because they used PS3 footage and they apologized for, saying they had no idea how did that happen (lol)....

now they are getting legitimate shit for it and they say "it's not like the gamers can tell the difference"

why didnt they change it when "we" complained?
