How Many Games (New) Do You Plan to Buy Between now and Dec 31?

0: I have no money / I have a backlog 13 9.49%

1-3: Not much coming out for me 37 27.01%

4-6: Some good stuff coming 49 35.77%

7-10: Best Fall Season in Ages 22 16.06%

11-15: Best Fall Ever 5 3.65%

15+: I'm Rich & I Have T... 11 8.03%

I have a backlog, but I'll be getting 1-3. LBP2 for sure, maybe 1 or 2 (casual) Move games if I buy Move this side of new year, which isn't certain.

Probably none, I've got enough games to play as is.

Halo Reach is the only safe bet for me. Games that don't depend heavily on multiplayer or that I know I'll finish more than once are on my borrow/rent list. Plus I have plenty to keep me busy with; there are high possibilities I'll buy Golden Sun, Kirby's Epic Yarn or AC: Brotherhood though.

The answer here is way too many. I know I have 3 preordered on Amazon, I think the roommates have 7 more at Gamestop, and I know we'll be picking up at least 1 more on a whim, so it's 11 . And with the size of our backlogs, really, 1 should be too many...

-On a quest for the truly perfect game; I don't think it exists...

Nothing sure yet, however these are the ones I'm most likely to get:

  • Civilization V (PC) - Probably getting this, though I'm still thinking because of forcing Steam down my throat.
  • Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) - Will be my first Gran Turismo ever unless they totally screw up.

I'm also considering these:

  • Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (PS3) - If I can find it for a decent price, sure. Otherwise I'll have to wait until next year.
  • LittleBigPlanet 2 (PS3) - See what I said about Brotherhood.

Then there's some slight interest in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes (PS3)... But I won't get it for full price, that's for sure. I might also try Fallout: New Vegas (PC) but thanks to Steam and my disappointment with Bethesda (not developed by Bethesda, no, but still heavily based on Fallout 3 it seems), not very high on my list. And then I'm probably going to buy some older games used, I tend to do it all the time.

Anyway, I answered 1-3. I simply can't afford much more, if even that. My studies begin next month and I doubt I'm going to have a lot of money.

I thought Civ V was a retail game, which can also be bought via Steam and D2D. Is that not correct? Did I miss something?

Civ IV was indeed a retail game. Civ V will use Steam as DRM though, ie. it will require Steam to work. That includes online activation and tying the game to a single account. Of course Civ V will also be available for download on Steam. The digital version also seems to have an excusive map as a pre-order bonus. There also seems to be an exclusive Deluxe Edition on Steam which includes a whole new civilization that can't be found anywhere else - AFAIK not even in the retail special edition.

But yeah, my biggest problem is with DRM and to me, Steam is just that. And if someone thinks I'm wrong about Civ V's DRM, correct me.

Yes, that's unfortunately correct. I just looked up the system requirements. http://www.civilization5.com/#/community/system_requirements

I'm a Civizilation fan ever since the first game was released 19 years ago, bought it soon after release and it blew me away. I think it's one of the best gaming franchises ever created and Civ 1 and 2 are among my all-time most favourite games. I have a Steam account, but DRM for Civ V is very disappointing news to me.
