Forums - Gaming - Will ME2 going to PS3 negatively impact ME3?

ME2 is going to PS3 and ME1 isn't. Will this impact ME3?

Because Bioware's aim was to have choices made in ME1 and ME2 affect the story of ME3. But as PS3 owners won't have ME1 will these options go? For example the Rachni Queen, I'm sure there will be a major role for her in ME3, but will she be cut out now?

I hope ME1 decisions affecting ME3 won't be cut down due to this move, this is a worry many people on the Bioware forums which I'm a member of have too.

Probably. I don't see how connected the first game could possibly be to the third if they expect someone to jump into the second one and get the same experience.

I personally think that at the start of the game, when you're on the operating table...

You will have a flashback. That flashback will last a fair few hours, will let you create your Shepard and play through all the main story elements of the Original. It can easily be completed within a few hours.

When the Flashback is over, with you defeating Saren/Sovereign... You choose whoever you want to be in control and the flashback ends, with you finally waking up.

The main storyline choices will be there for your save file to import over to the eventual Mass Effect 3 when it releases.

o don't think so. Bioware is a very consistent dev. so a platform change won't hurt the game one bit.

That's kind of an elegant solution, though the resource investment would be... substantial.

I rather like the idea, though I'm not sure if it fits with Christina Norman's statement that she's going to try to see that all three versions of ME2 are roughly equal.

Anyway:

No. They've had this game in planning for too long to let a port stop them, regardless of how that port is affected.

None whatsoever, the extra money might help them make it even better, not worse

How are all three versions going to be roughly equal? There are going to be a plethora of references on the PS3 port that no one will understand (and no, a story recap only helps so much). I wouldn't be shocked if they went out of their way to make sure nothing from the first game had a serious impact on the third game to try to keep things as "fair" as possible, and it wouldn't be fair if they went back to plot points and events that people might not recognize because they haven't played the first game at all.

They've had ME3 planned for years. Its story incorporates over a thousand variables from the first two games. They are not going to nerf the PC and 360 versions to accomodate the PS3 version. The PS3 version will not negatively impact ME3. I guarantee it.

That would suck big time if they would ruin ME3 because of some people who hasn't played ME1/2. It would... suck. :(

This panicked nonsense is beneath every person who partakes in it. ME2 on PS3 is not going to take away the depth of choices reflected in ME3. They've confirmed, over and over, that variables will be carried over from the first game. That's the final word until we hear specifically to the contrary.
