The 360 is the bread and butter for WRPGs. I doubt that'll change anytime soon either.

I think a possible workaround for PS3 players to get to make the major choices in the first game could be done simply by altering the dialogue that you have with Miranda during the shuttle flight before meeting the Illusive Man for the first time.

More specifically, the questions that she asks you during the conversation could allow PS3 players to choose who they saved, who they let die, and so on, so that PS3 players still get to make the major decisions in the first game, without having to play it.

And honestly, playing the first game isn't really as necessary as people are making it out to be. I personally only have one character imported from the first game, while the majority of my other characters I have in ME 2 were started from scratch (since I don't like going back to the first game because I just can't stand the first game's dull combat).

In my opinion it is not a huge mistake bringing ME2 to PS3 without ME1. I guess it will sell at least enough to make a little profit for BW/EA, and it sets the basis for ME3 being multiplat from the beginning. And I think there will be at least some kind of introduction video telling the story of ME1.

Anyway, I already bought it for 360, but I might pick this up.

Mass Effect 1 (IMO at least) was more of an RPG than Mass Effect 2. ME2 focused more on the fighting, and stupid resource gathering.

The story was better in ME2 though i found.

I dunno, personally I would rate them about even. Both have there plus points. Both have there negatives.
