Forums - Nintendo - THQ announces graphics tablet for the Wii

I was looking at nintendolife.com and it seems that THQ has announced their big innovation they were taling about a couple weeks ago. As several people here speculated it is in fact a graphics tablet called uDraw GameTablet. The tablet will come bundled with an art studio game titled uDraw Studio for $69.99 in the US this holiday.

Two other games have also been announced for launch, a version of the game pictionary and a game called Dood's big adventure which the article describes as a cross between Drawn to Life and Ivy the Kiwi. Dood's Big Adventure will use the tablet as an extension controller for the Wii Remote, with a slot for the remote to the side of the drawing area, to be able to move characters through tilt control. The press release also says more games are planned for release in 2011 but do not specify what they are.

Here is an image of the accessory.

and here is a couple of the bundled game.

What do you all think of this announcement? I think THQ might have been a little too excessive with the hype saying people would not be as focused on Move and Kinnect after it was announced. Still I actually think the accessory looks pretty nice, and while it would be good to have more than 3 games for a launch line up it seems to be a nice variety between the 3 titles. I think the price is ok since it comes bundled with a game, but maybe it would have been good to be $10 dollars cheaper. I think with agressive advertising this could be a decent succcess for THQ, but I am interested in heaing impressions about the device to see if it works well.

hmm i think its a good idea lol

This will be cool

We were right, lol

They really need to price it lower to push more sales.

I may get this...but I am more interested in the Vitality Sensor which Iwata said was due before March 2011.

Nintedo, Mario Paint remake, with compatibility with this controller.

Plus it would be funny if some IR pointer games, whether FPS or something else, was compatible with this, like using a touchpad for those games on PC.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

DS/wii compatible games =)

woo I think this sounds great. I can see some cool game ideas working with this.

And yes, a Mario Paint remake would be awesome lol.

I don't think the price is too high. Some HD games are only $10 cheaper without a hardware.

i wonder if you can create your own animation with this? it would be cool if there was one on wii
