I'm sorry, but who in their right mind needs 320 gigs? 250 is ridiculous, and now it seems like we're just adding gigs for the hell of it.

Anyone who uses the PS3 as a media center.

I had a 320GB drive in my original 60GB SKU and that was almost full by the time I replaced it with a 500GB drive.

Even with the 500GB drive, I am very selective about what video I store on the console as I could easily fill 500GB with video I have stored on other drives.

Same here, i've got a 360 gig upgrade in mine and a 1T external hard drive.

My PS3 is my multi-media centre, has all my music, photos and movies on it. I've got into the habit of recording every movie that they show on TV to my PS3! have about 150 movies on there now and it's using up all my external hard drive space. amazing how quick it gets filled.

OT: I hope they bring the white one out in EU/NA, it looks awesome and would sell like hotcakes.

mmm... hotcakes...

Word of warning about keeping all of your media on the internal PS3 HDD: if it goes tits up, you may lose everything if you haven't been backing up.

What's worse, the more you store on the PS3, the longer it takes to back everything up since the back up utility writes encripted archive files, not straight disc to disc copies.

Plus, you can't just plug your internal HDD from one PS3 into another an expect it to read since each HDD is individually keyed to the console it was formatted with.

It's best to keep most or even all of your video on an external drive, and anything on the internal drive should either be backed up or considered to be expendable data.

I lost about 300GB of video when my original PS3 died, some of which was not backed up, so just be aware.

Same happened to me last year when my PS3 YLOD, i lost 23 movies on my 500GB HDD. Sony did not want to give me back my movies because i decided to get my PS3 repaired at a local shop for a lot cheaper than what Sony charges for out of warranty PS3.  I did the next best thing and now only rent movies from the PSN. If i want to purchase a movie i just hope in my car and buy the bluray at BestBuy.

Don't ever buy movies from the PSN, you are better off going to the store and buying the hard copy, renting is your best option.

even if the ps3 gets a discount like this article is saying and there is a 320 gig version on the way. It wont do much ppl wont even care because everyone will be to focused on halo reach and kinect to bother with the ps3 price cut.

If you had been looking at sales for the last 2 months you would see that interest in the PS3 has still remained high even in the face of tough competition from Microsoft. PS3 just saw 2 of it's best NPDs all year, and that's in the middle of the slow summer months. Obviously Reach and Kinect haven't totally taken up the consumer's awareness.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

and in the past months the 360 has almost sold twice the amount that the ps3 sold those months and its only going to get better for the 360 since halo reach (the most anticipated game in the world and the history of gaming) and kinect which is more famous than God, the 360 has the holidays on lockdown.

This I don't understand... it can easily connect to your existing wireless network and take your media off your computer. I have a 1TB external on my computer upstairs. My PS3 downstairs reads it through my computer just fine and I still have about 90% of my 250gb ps3 free. I just don't see the need. I probably should have just bought the 120gb, ah well, got it for same price anyways.

Maybe I'll finally get a PS3 if the 120GB is cut in price. I think 120GB will be plenty for me.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

It's doesn't cost Sony any money to upgrade the HD specs, hell it may actually be cheaper... as weird as that may sound.  So why not upgrade the HD?
