Forums - Gaming - Secret Bethesda title in development for 2 years. Possibly Elder Scrolls V?

I want this sooooo bad.

Just please, Bethesda. NO MMO!!!!!

In fact, I wont mind if there is no multiplayer at all.

Just make a good, long singleplayer game.

PS - If possible, make the main quest a little bit longer.

I really hope this is a lot more Morrowind, and a lot lot LOT less Oblivion.

I REALLY REALLY hope this is a lot like Oblivion and not very similar to Morrowind

{prays}

But how much Morrowind did you actually play, son?

20 hours before it got too boring to continue, dad.

Either way, user mods fix all... at least on PC.

Oblivion doesn't need mods, its awesome without them.

Maybe mods would actually make Morrowind fun though...

I thought the same when I first got Oblivion, but the mods I've downloaded have done absolute wonders to the game and extended my playtime by about 250 hours (across multiple characters)!

That's what I love about Elders Scrolls modding community; they make a great game even better. And many of the ideas they implemented (in Oblivion) were actually from mods in Morrowind so you'd probably enjoy Morrowind more with certain mods active.

I wish there were mods for consoles.

Cause I will play the console version. My PC will never run it and I suck using keyboard and mouse. Seriously.

Looking at your profile you have a PS3 so you may get lucky if you get the PS3 version. Sony seem to be more open to mods than Microsoft (like in Unreal Tournament 3). No gaurantee though. Guess you'll just have to wait for announcements and hope.

I haven't looked that much into Oblivion mods. Is there anything that eliminates the dreadful scaling system? (both enemies / loot)

Yes. Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul is pretty good, it doesn't completely eliminate them but it limits them. For example, there will be no bandits wearing glass armor. And as you gain level, enemies don't level all the way with you, they have a level cap. And you might also encounter some very powerful creatures even early in the game. The first time I played OOO and was on my way to Kvatch, I encountered a Mystical Imp. It totally slaughtered me. Now, I can pwn them quite easily. Also, OOO feature many other changes, none of which I've found bad.

But if you only want to completely eliminate scaling, there are some mods for that too.

Good, I'll look into them. Enemy and especially loot scaling completely ruined Oblivion for me. Thanks for the info.

Zkuq pretty much covered it. I usually get my mods from:

http://www.tesnexus.com/

Pretty much every mod imaginable is on there.

I don't think it's Elder Scrolls. ES games take 4-5 years to make, does that mean we'll wait for another 3 years for launch? Unlikely. I think ESV is being made at least for 3-4 years and is bound to make an appearance at next year's E3.

Oh, and Bethesda, plz make the next ES game more like Morrowind and less like the utterly dissapointing Oblivion.

It is Elder Scrolls 5.

Todd already explained why it comes out relatively quickly. It's because with both Morrowind and Oblivion they launched to brand new tech early in a console generation. This time having made Oblivion and Fallout 3 already they're much more familiar with the tech. Plus Todd also explained how they now develop games in parallel, they started with pre-production on the current project even before Fallout 3 was released.

If we get an announcement in October (which I predict), then expect a release in Fall 2011. That would be 3 full years since Fallout 3, compared to 3 years and 11 months between Morrowind and Oblivion. So it all makes sense.
