This seems more a case of Middle Eastern culture rather than pure religion. They intermingle and are easily mixed up, but they should be considerred seperate entities, especially when nothing in the Qu'ran supports this.

Well moderate Muslims are spread over many countries with probably the centre of moderate Islam being Turkey. The Taliban are certainly not moderate.I think you are being far to harsh on religion, using the actions of the extremists to tar the moderates.

Also ironic that you misattribute that quote to Stalin (it was Marx I believe who said religion is the opiun of the masses) given that Stalin at times viciously persecuted the religious included purges that involved the execution of many thousands.

Which is the problem with most who push Quranic views out the door for Sunnah teachings. Well, it probably doesn't matter much as I'm sure no western nation would ever even consider these rules. Plus, its not so different from any massively conservative Christian groups here in the States. Imagine if the Amish controlled the laws in the US. While they don't go around killing others, they are extremists in their own beliefs and life in their community would equally suck balls and prevent continued growth for humanity.

Not if the minorty becomes the majority..

This, I can't think of  any religion that condones murder. Muder is in the name of murder not god

I think I would put both The Independent and The Sun safely below The Mail.

The Independent? not a chance, Daily Mail is clearly lower in writing standard and for sheer tabloid trash. And The Sun? well at least that's a paper that's not meant to be taken too seriously... Page 3 pretty much makes it a given that it's trash.

Daily Mail on the other hand pretends to be a serious broadsheet when it's nothing but pure trash.
