The vibe was pretty spot on for Deus Ex, the whole beginning was very promising. And then everything else followed and my hopes plummeted. Killing 2 guys with a QTE? A skill that kills 4 enemies at once? WTF? That isn't Deus Ex, that's a fucked up, dumbed down, noobed up, Deus Ex. Hopefully they fix that crap before it gets released to top DE1.

ah yes, because its on Consoles and not PC exclusive?

DE1 was easy , so i don't see how this is "dumbed down" and "Noobed up" , but i still think its terrible looking , because of the visual style not the action.

It probably is dumbed down and ruined because of the consoles, but it's a bad game because it is dumbed down and noobed up. This footage just showed that it is far more action oriented than DE1 and was far more like the other DE, the shitty second one (that also happened to be released on a console, I'm seeing a pattern here), than the first DE.

isn't that the greatest thing of Deus Ex? I liked that stuff so i'll use it but if you don't like it you can snipe your way through.. or use another skill..

In Deus Ex you couldn't just kill 4 people wiht a single skill nor did it have QTEs and all this action. I don't know what game you played but it was definitely DE if you think what was shown was in DE1.

Neh.. I mean you now have even more options to do stuff.. if you don't like them don't use them.. it pretty simple.. don't bash a game cause you have seen stuff you won't use in your playthrough..

Getting uninterested again.  Looks like action orientated stealth with QTEs.  I want dialogue, depth and plenty of non-combat a'la Deus Ex.  This is already starting to look like Deus Ex 2 with better graphics and combat - i.e. more or less exactly what I don't want from a Deus Ex game.

Yeah. Too unoriginal. I'd say Meta ~85%.

And if it has QTE... can it really have QTEs?

I hope not.  I meant to say it looked suspiciously like QTEs in execution but hopefully it's not.  85% might not be a bad guess judging by that trailer.  It doesn't look awful, just missing the "lighting in a bottle" that defined the original that they've never been able to replicate.

Of course, the challenge is Deus Ex won gazzilions of awards and was loved by a lot of people with good taste, but sold badly to the masses.  For the sequels they're clearly trying to work out how to win the awards and keep it special and also sell loads.

Maybe they just need to realize they'd be better making a decent, not too expensive game true to Deus Ex and settle for the modest sales and great critical praise.  I'm not sure there is some magic formula to achieve both.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Looking cool.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

It would have helped if their first gameplay footage didnt feature a single facet. Given the fact that DE is supposed to be about choice, and that the developers chose one of the worst choices to show off, I am extremely worried about this game. As it is right now, it looks like one of those generic type shooters.

If Eidos fuck this up like they have with Tomb Raider and Deus Ex 2 I vow to never buy a game from them again.

Looking at the trailer I am not impressed one bit and the flashy CGI trailer square-enix made for Eidos did nothing but increase my expectation and now this trailer in actual gameplay looks crap.

Doubt it'll be anywhere as good as the original.

Looks more like Invisible War... but even more claustrophobic O.o

Some points:

The first Deus Ex had shit graphics but amazing scale and gameplay. Hope this is likewise (and with possibly slightly better graphics)

Where did anyone get the idea of QTE?

Shooting seems improved with zooming and cover as in any FPS or TPS.

It is still evident that you can stealth your way.

In the first DE you could make group kills using turrents, mines or explosives. Nothing new here.

Hope this lives up to (my) expectations but so far it does not look to be shaping up too badly.

Looks just like the type of game I'd love to play.

Can't wait for Deus Ex HR!
