The wii has 11 million sellers right now after a year and they are going to add 6 soon (GH3, Wii Fit, RE:UC, Mario & Sonic, MP3, Mario strikers) .... 17 million sellers after little more than a year looks very good for me.

looks great to me

thats complete bull

Umm, part of being a million seller is that they actually sold a million. Most of those games havent sold million yet

11 have already sold a million mario striers is only 20k away and those other games will be there shortly after the holidays

so i just don't get his comment about the wii being a toy and the 360 being a "gaming machine". therefore i decided to look up the word toy just to make sure of the definition.

toy: something that serves for or as if for diversion, rather than for serious pratical use. (dictionary.com)

how in the hell do video games in general not meet this definition perfectly?!?

The Wii does get a lot of game sales. Really, it does. But there are several disadvantages compared to the Xbox 360:

(1) The 360 has been on the market for two full years. The Wii for one -- this means people who have had the console for a long time will have had more time to buy lots of games.

(2) Nintendo makes many of the best games in the industry and sells them exclusively on the Wii. A lot of good games were released for the Wii between September and December of this year. A sale for Metroid Prime 3 or Super Mario Galaxy likely takes away a sale for third party game.

(3) Wii sports is bundled, and for many Wii owners its a ~100 hour game with multiplayer.

The Wii will overcome both of these things to give third parties a good attach rate as 3rd party games get better and the Wii gets older.

Well the PS3 does sell good amounts of software vs sales numbers.

Not really, and certainly not so much in Japan.  It's not doing as wretched as the PSP does for attach rate in Japan, but it's not doing well.

Well, some people just clearly can't grasp the reality surrounding them.

Somehow Yoichi sounds like Yamauchi in his final years....I see doom for Squenix

Hey, pay respect to Mad Yamauchi , DS is a Yamauchi idea.

Like my firm show, Yamauchi saw the Wii/DS phenomenon before it came.

I think that core-gamers will buy a game ( and a console for that game ) if it's a great game. So overall core-gamers are irrilevant ( multiplatform owners are generally core-gamers ). What is important is guiding the huge force rappresented by casual-gamers or occasional gamers. In the past  a mainstream console was chose by early adopters ( core-gamers ) but with Wii this rule isn't valide.

The Wii define a new rule for core gamers.

Wii fans up in arms:

"they got an idiot CEO"

"Big loss of respect here"

Simply because he said some people are buying the Wii as a toy? Get a life...

Everything he says makes perfect sense. He's saying a lot of people are only using the Wii as a toy because they aren't buying more games for it. They're perhaps only using it for social events and aren't interested in buying anything beyond Wii sports. (As is the case with two of my friends).

The 360 on the other hand is drawing the hardcore crowd. Who buy games by the bucket load.

He isn't too sure where Sony stand.

If you want to argue over his choice word of 'toy' so be it, but it's quite clear what the man is trying to say.

Oh so basically people who buy the WII don't like games, right? Oh piss off Square Enix and your constant stupid nonsense!!!

At least Nintendo understands its gamers better than you do. Mario Galaxy, that's a core game and I love it... Dragon Quest Swords is indeed a kiddy game, because its too plain easy and its full of crap! And another crap game is about to launch... Read the comments at Amazon Japan about DQS and see how "enthusiastic" your Japanese gamers were about the game.... not.

Sorry but this really pisses me off... and they've just lost the little bit respect they had left with me.

RESPECT. =)
Just what i was saying all the time. Just a toy. Like tamagochi, yo-yo and etc. =)

It seems that Sony isn't sure what it wants to do. Is it making high-end electronics or a game console for gamers? I want them to clearly define their console.”
YEAH! Bring it ON! =)
FFXIII FTW! =)
