Developers at Neversoft believe that the constant battle to top the charts against Rock Band led to the team losing their heart and dedication. Neversoft as a whole has had an atmosphere that has been nothing but a constant drain on the team says Brian Bright, Guitar Hero project director. The last two years at Neversoft were simply defined by developers seeking to chase fame. WithRock Band providing the nearest competition, Neversoft staff worked diligently to secure the release of four Guitar Hero games in the space of one year. “With Guitar Hero World Tour we kind of lost our souls a bit,” he told Develop. “We lost that spark by trying to cater to everyone. We were in this arms race with our competitor [Rock Band 2], and in the end I felt like we sold a bit of our souls.” Luckily for Neversoft, a new project has been announced, one that could hint towards an “action shooter” title, one to finally help the studio break away from a series that has become oversaturated in the eyes of consumers. http://www.industrygamers.com/news/neversoft-lost-their-souls-in-the-pursuit-of-guitar-hero-success/
