Guys, guys ;) I agree with PS360N64PSXBOX on this one. Arguing that any console is "more" fun is just wrong. Fun is about as subjective as you can get - and some people will *definitely* have more fun on a 360 or PS3 than a Wii (it also heavily depends on the games being played!).
What you *could* argue is that MORE people are likely to have fun on a Wii - and these people are (generally) non-gamers, sucked in by the Wii controller.
If I had a PS3 I would (more than likely) have fun with it. But I don't have one (various reasons), and due to lack of gaming time (etc..) am not likely to get one soon.
For the hell of it, I'll share with you all my latest "Easter Wii" story...
****
Took a one day holiday over Easter (Friday). With my partner/wife, her mother we went to a holiday house with some of her mothers friends (their place). We also brought the Wii (requested from several people...). They have a rather small (but decent TV - component inputs). In total, there were 2 mothers, 1 father (all around 50-60), their daughter (17), my partner & myself.
I started with some VC - to test the system out. A few people looked at the system, but ignored it ("ohh, its a video game - whatever").
The daughter wanted to play something. She had played some N64/PS1 ages ago - and tried Super Mario, Sonic (VC) - but lost interest quickly. She then tried out Rayman.
It didn't take long, before she was fully into it. Cow throwing, milking games.. then she hit jackpot - the dancing game(s). I remember thinking that these games were cute - but definitely not deep, or worth playing a lot. She loved it so much (simple controls, music) she spent most of the night playing this (I eventually set up score mode, so 2 people could play and take turns). Everyone then played this at some point (except the father, who was off doing something else). Its been a while since Ive seen something so simple, suck so many people (non-gamers!) into playing. Both mothers struggled on some of the medium/harder songs, but apart from that everyone had a blast.
We also played some 2-player "Rabbit Hunt" games (17 yr old - "cool, this is like Time Crisis"). Its actually a lot of fun in 2-player mode, and I highly recommend it for people who haven't tried it ;)
To finish off the night, I had a little surprise. The father hadn't played anything (or been that interested yet). But - I knew his weakness - FISHING!. Booted up Zelda, and jumped into the lure fishing area. The first time he saw me cast off, and get a bite - he roared his head off. He never actually played it, but we all sat there for about an hour wandering around the lake trying to catch fish. It was pretty hilarious (a few people took go's at trying..).
The other thing that stood out to me was this - every one of them thought the GRAPHICS were awesome. Weather, reflecting water, leaves coming off trees and floating in the water, ripples from the oars/lure, sounds of the water/fish, etc. It even started raining at some point... they were blown away.
By the end of the night everyone there had experienced the Wii. The daughter wants one for her birthday, and I think the parents will try and get one as well. But what's more, is the Wii manged to bond everyone in that room together successfully - at least for a few hours - and give them a taste of the videogame world.
