Forums - Sales - Getting 3D TV...but which?

Last week I went to Sony and Samsung centres in London. The 3d demos both centres where showing were really good. I have to say that Sony really screwed up this time by launching a a3D Ready TV where you have to purchase additional transmitter  and the only sizes they had in the centre were 40" and 55". As I have a limited space in the TV corner I can only get up to 46" TV.

Samsung had all I needed: any size you’re looking for and any panel (LCD,Plasma,LED). So there it was  46" LED ED TV:

Save your money, there's fuck all to watch.

@ llewdebkram )

well, 3D TVs are able to display 2D stuff, surpring isn't it?

And the shutter-technique is pretty easy to implement, so soon every new TV will be a "3D TV" anyway.

@ Ldn.se)

Hmm.. I haven't tested any of the sets yet, but I read in reviews, that out of the LCD 3DTVs the Samsungs right now are the best. In 3D mode there seem to be some issues with cross talk though, which aren't as prominent on Plasma 3DTVs. The Panasonics seem to do a very good job there.

400Hz theoretically should be able to further reduce cross talk(if it's even available in 3D mode - many of the current 3DTVs only support 100/120Hz in 3D mode), but you really should read reviews on that matter. If the LG you are talking about is the LX9500, it seems to have problems in that regard according to this http://www.3d-display-info.com/lgs-lx9500-3d-tv-reviewed-too-much-crosstalk .

Apart from that I read LG received an award for a "cross talk free" TV they showed at "DisplayWeek", but that one works with polarizing and not with shutter glasses. http://www.sid.org/pressroom/100525.html

I know that there aren't many 3D movies to watch at the mo and PS3 got only 3 Active 3D games but I need to upgrade my TV, got the money to spend and  Comet has this fantastic offer where you get free 3D blu ray player and 11% discount if purchased with a promotion code and via quidco. All for less than 2k

The TV also upgrades 2D to semi 3D so standard blu ray movies will look even better.

Why do you have to get a TV now? Do you really need one or can you wait one year?

Because within 2 or 3 years all TVs will have 3D, plus the 3D tech itself will have matured. Like that Samsung 8000-series for example. It's got amazing overall pictire quality but one simple thing as the Hz (or something else with the frame refresh) causes a slight ghosting effect in 3D.

That ghosting will be gone even in cheaper TVs within two years so you might regret having bought such an expensive TV with a few annoying flaws.

I really hate people like you. Don`t you understand that that are people out there, with money and the will to be Early adopters? If people loke you cant afford the TV or don`t like one yet for any reasons...don`t bash the decision of another person to buy one...In this forum seems to be a lot of people that dont like the idea of 3D because they cant afford one and shield themselves in excuses like technology is not the best yet...bla bla bla..

Why buy a normal tv now if the technology is going to be better in one more year? On that case you will be waiting for ever...

The introduction period of a new product is based on early adopters...until it reaches mass comsumption.  If it wasn`t for this guys...

I still remember when I bought one of the fisrt MP3 players, the RIO MP3...32MB for 200 dollars...and it was amazing!!!

Maybe there are not many games in 3D, maybe there are not many movies in 3D now...BUT THERE ARE GOING TO BE...

@LDN.SE
Great decision for buying a 3D TV...the quality of the images are AMAZING...I have a Sony Bravia and its amazing...even if there is not many media out there...its a joy...

Why not just get a cheap TV now and then a 3DTV when the content comes out in a couple of years time? You'll pay less than what you would have anyway and you'll end up with a better TV in the end.

Tease.

Samsung 8000 Series are good.

No 3D TV has flaws or huge flaws, you could get into great 3D world with anyone.

Here Samsung is ruling (Brazil), but other countries Sony has better prices..

Good luck and it´s time for 3D! ;)

PSN: franco-br
MGS4, GH, MW2, GT5p, WipeoutHD, etc..etc..

I wouldn't buy it. To me 3D is an over-priced piece of junk technology that degrades the viewing of what-ever your watching. I'll stick to the poor mans 2D.

But if I don't have enough money to buy one I don't want anyone else to have one!
