..hell, call me crazy (and this is a bit out there) but if kinect is a hit (and it seems possible atm) there is a reasonable chance the wii doesn't even end this generation as the market leader which would be really not normal.

Honestly, I don't think Kinect will be a hit, or at least a hit like Wii/DS/PS/PS2 were.

In my opinion, to the prospective buyer, the 360 will seem too cluttered and unfocused. Some games won't work without a certain peripheral. The prospective buyer will probably be confused. Same goes for PS Move.

There will always be the barrier of entry for the prospective buyer of those motion inputs. With Wii, it saw early success because it was clear-cut what games are useable with the Wii remote. It was easy to use and see what to do to have fun.

... Actually, perhaps part of the decline for Wii is its starting to become cluttered itself. Perhaps prospective buyers are starting to be confused by the many peripherals/controllers for it. How many is it, now? You have the Wii remote, Motion Plus, Balance Board, Nunchuk, Classic Controller, and (unnecessary though it may be) the Gamecube Controller.

Ultimately, Wii may be in decline through its own devices.

I wonder if Wii could actually wind up in third this holiday. With Microsoft's Kinect, Reach and continued strong sales of the slim model and Sony's Move and GT5, Nintendo must be praying Donkey Kong is a hardware mover cause it's their only hope right now.

Software is what moves hardware. Wii seems to have the strongest lineup this holiday. On top of that, Nintendo generally has stronger sales during the holiday season then anyone else. Lots of parents buying Nintendo consoles and games for their kids and such.

While Sony and MS keep cranking out things like price cuts, new models, and Wii knockoff controllers, their software lineup doesn't seem that strong compared to Nintendo's this year, and that's what's going to affect the hardware sales in the long run.

I'm really wondering why people think DK is going to be a hardware mover.

Donkey Kong as far as I remember mostly catered to existing Nintendo fans/Mario fans. And NSMB Wii must have got loads of Mario fans on Wii.

DKCR will surely move some systems, but I don't think its gonna be a massive system seller like NSMB Wii.

So funny how history repeats, especially when that history repeating is less than a year old...

As I recall, almost EVERYONE here said the same about NSMB Wii, that it would only sell to existing Wii owners. When I said it would move massive hardware, noone believed me.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is a similar type of game NSMB Wii is; a mass market sidescroller that appeals to many. Also similar to Mario, DKC is a series that has been untouched for a over a decade, which probably has created a lot of pent up hype. But at the same time, it's still a different game, that will probably pick up some gamers that NSMB Wii did not. Expect this game to be huge, then the crow eating will begin again, just like with NSMB Wii..

While it won't be AS big as NSMB Wii, Epic Mickey, Wii Party, Goldeneye, and Kirby could pick up that extra slack. Wii won't sell 4.3 million like last December, but I think a 3.5 - 4 million is very possible.

Yes I still think that the Wii has a chance of outselling P.S.2 Lifetime.

there's no way the Wii will live and SELL enough to reach PS2 sales.

There is still a chance for it to pass PS2. I believe it is STILL outpacing PS2 sales. As long as Nintendo keeps supporting it and releasing a steady supply of quality games.

The only reason I see it not happening is if Nintendo purposely cuts off Wii's lifespan short by releasing a console in 2011-2012. However, it looks like that is very likely to happen, so the PS2 fans could probably breath a collective sigh of relief. I do think Wii should easilly surpass PS1 though.

Dissapointed with starcraft 2 sales. Does this exclude battle.net and south korea sales?

Doesn't matter either way since Blizzard games have tremendous legs.

what do youguys think 360 will do next week in america? i think it will do about 105-115k(arcade)

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

well thats something u dont c everyday, the 360 in 1st place and the wii in last.

starcraft did awesome, gane deserves the sales

the 360 has gr8 summer momentum, their sales w/ halo reach and cod: black ops can be so devastating people will forget about games like gt5, assassins creed, or the wii itself

Above I'm a proud Gran Turismo fan, not a Sony fanboy, and now a proud 360 owner, but sharing xbox live accts ATM

End of 2009 Predictions (made Jan 1, 2009): My predictions were pretty accurate, the 360 was over and the Wii was just under.

Wii: 65 mil (yea I'm crazy) 360: 35 mil (its getting there) PS3: 30 mil (the slim better do well)

End of 2010 Predictions (made Jan 7, 2010):

Wii: 81 mil  360: 47 mil PS3: 45 mil
