According to a very reliable source at a major UK retailer, the new 320GB PS3 will arrive on shelves in October this year, along with a new 160GB model at a very tempting, economical price point. Our source did not know whether the new models would be white, as they are in Japan, but we doubt it, although we wouldn’t completely rule out a limited edition white version.

This time last year, the same source tipped us off about the PS3 price drop, which was then officially confirmed at GameCom, so we fully expect this rumour to be made official at GamesCom too.

With GT5 set to release this year and EU being one of GTs strongest supporters i believe sony would want to take advantage of this phenomenon and what better way than with a price cut they defiantly have the room for one in Europe thats for sure

This will bring in a pricecut of the older models, which will increase sales. If a bunch of White PS3's are introduced, again sales will increase.

I can easily see a UK or PAL only price cut coming. Prices over there are ridiculous and they can probably afford to make a 25 or 35 pound or euro cut and still make profit. Nintendo cut the price of the Wii in Australia to be more in line with the US price. Sony probably will too.

the HW is priced way higher in EU than in most other regions just look at PS move and its accessories its priced way lower in euro compared to US its the other way around for the HW, move is priced lower b/c the euro and pound are stronger than dolla so they can afford it and move is a new HW and sony dont want to mess things up with a high price

also MS did the same thing in 08 they had a price cut in late 07 WW than in EU only had another price cut in spring of 08 then again in fall of 08 i believe they went off sequence with there prices in mid 08 b/c sony just cut there price to $400 WW in fall of 07 and still had momentum through out 08 from it, MS didnt want to lose more market share to sony in EU
