makes my 20 000$ in student loans seem tiny : )

America has been through doom and gloom before. Civil War and the Great Depression spring to mind. It will come back. Weaker than before since there are other rising world powers and economically it's not dominant like it is militarily but even militarily it's been challenged. It's having a tough time putting down the Taliban insurgency who are mostly armed with 40 year old Soviet weapons and have limited financing and this has hurt it's prestige.

What would really help is if Russia and China go to war and then they choose a side (probably Russia) a few years later and join the war. And then the side they picked would have to take out massive loans from the US to continue the war effort and rebuild and in exchange they would have to buy American. New Deal and Marshall Plan v.2

I really hope the US doesn't collapse. Sure I have my critisisms of it, but I could never stand a country like china being the world leader, it would scare the shit out of me.

After living  there for a few years I didn't find them scary, but rather effective in a sense. Anyways they're too concentrated on domestic affairs and lack any kind of imperial doctrine to rule the world for the time being, though you usually don't need much time to gain imperial ambitions.

wow i never thought that the bush administration was that bad.

During that era, supporters of the administration justified deficits by saying, "But we are at war".  Now that the administration isn't in power, there is harping about the deficit, and apparently thew U.S is no long at war.  Go figure.

And opponents of the administration, like Paul Krugman, criticized deficits. But now that the administration isn't in power, deficits are a Good Thing. Go figure.

What I meant by world leader was more like when people say "market leader"

Ah I think China will not be it for long though (India is coming up aswell and with their population growth;..) An interesting future that is for sure...Three new imporant markets China/india/Brazil...will Europe be like an new middle east?,  will USA found a way to pay their debts, what about Japan? etc;.
