Forums - Sony - Motorstorm Apocalypse: the Uncharted 2 of racing games?

I recently got to play a pre-alpha version of Motorstorm Apocalypse at the Sony Beta Rooms event in the UK. I was amazed at how cinematic and full of action packed events that the game is and the immediate comparison that sprung to my mind while playing was that it reminded me of Uncharted 2, specifically how the scripted events blended seamlessly with the actual gameplay to create a new level of immersion. Check out the video footage below to see what I mean and hear my thoughts on the game as I play.

I think the uc2 reference came about from the cinematic aspect of the game ...like that level in Nepal with the helicopter maybe....

for me personally I think this as well as inFamous2 will do a uc2 in the sense that they will be a HUGE step farward from their previous installment

The uncharted 2 comment is obviously about the chaotic / film blockbuster action feel of Uncharted

@ CGI , how did you know Pacific Rift is not good if you haven't got it?

The view in that level is just... stunning. I'll be surprised if MotorStorm Apoc. even comes close to it.

I was referring to the destruction when the helicopter attacking and when they have to jump into another building cuz the one they were in was collapasing kinda deal..cinematic destruction if you will

Don't ever compare a MotorStorm game to the incredible adventure that was Uncharted 2. Some pretty animations and set pieces doesn't suddenly make a game a masterpiece.

EDIT: After watching the video, I will admit that it looks fantastic, and the atmosphere is great, but it seems like a complete unstructured mess to me. Just on the basis of that trailer, of course.

It looked AWESOME! Nice to hear you like it too..

BTW MUGEN did you see any of the STORY stuff in the build you played? Apparently it has a story

I'm sad Motorstorm gets so underappreciated on here.

PAcific Rift was so AWESOME....the crappy demo put off all my friends from buying it though, but I had faith and the final product was so much better!

Anyway hopefully they will make a game selling demo for this one!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Does anybody else get a vibe that this is similar to the last level in Halo:CE?

Pretty cool! :D

The BuShA owns all!

What makes Uncharted 2 the Uncharted 2 of anything?

Uncharted 2 made scripted sequences seem live like no other game before it

Motorstorm Apocalypse does that with the racing genre

Thats why the OP said what he did.

@Machina

And he would be correct in thinking so.
