Forums - Nintendo - Other M to have Movie Mode

Well, that's interesting.

I support Samus' story being told, but I hope we get at least 10 hours of gameplay. I don't want my Metroid to suffer like MGS does where all the awesome bits are movies.

Why can't I blow up a helicopter with a bazooka!?

I don't think there's a Metroid in history with 10 hours of gameplay if you had any experience with the franchise up to that point. Even wandering around and getting lost in Super Metroid, I still beat it in about eight hours.

It took me 20 hours to beat Prime 3 :/

That's a single playthrough. The point of these games is also the replay value in the different ways you can play each time.

Took me 32 hours to do Prime 1 the first time, and that was with the guide. Granted now i have it pared down to 8 per run with 100%, but depending on the level of challenge here, you could see that again.

Though no R&D1 Metroid has had 10 hours of gameplay, i'll agree.

Mayhap i'll make a post on the Spirit of Metroid in the official thread, similar to your "What's Zelda's appeal?" thing. Should accumulate some interesting ideas.

You're gonna get some weird answers out of that on. I started with Prime myself, and what I see as being inherent to Metroid is very different from the body of the Metroid fandom.

a lot of that is attributed to the fact than in normal Metroids, you can later move VERY fast , get to high places super fast, face no loading times nor wait to load doors. In prime you can never get the speed boost and the shinespark is just to solve certain areas specially suited to it, rather than a speedy way of moving through as in other Metroids.

That said, im expecting this one, due to its 3d nature rather than 2d ,to be of around 10/12 hours of pure gameplay ,1st play.

I ... seriously hope you'll be able to skip the clips.

Metroid Other M has it the other way way.  Instead of getting to skip the cutscenes you get to skip the gameplay!

That sounds awesome. v_v

Did you accidentally channel Maltrom there?

so this will probably be on a dual layer Wii disc or maybe 2 discs then

out of interest, how many dual layer or multiple disc Wii games have their been?  I can only think of Brawl and MP Trilogy for dual layer

Sakura Wars is also dual layer, I believe.

o_O

No way!!! There's no way the content of Sakura Wars needed dual layer. They didn't even include Japanese Voices!

Yeah, some quick googling shows the iso is under 4GB, meaning single layer.  Makes no dual audio all the more inexcusable imo.
