Mayhap i'll make a post on the Spirit of Metroid in the official thread, similar to your "What's Zelda's appeal?" thing. Should accumulate some interesting ideas.

You're gonna get some weird answers out of that on. I started with Prime myself, and what I see as being inherent to Metroid is very different from the body of the Metroid fandom.

a lot of that is attributed to the fact than in normal Metroids, you can later move VERY fast , get to high places super fast, face no loading times nor wait to load doors.In prime you can never get the speed boost and the shinespark is just to solve certain areas specially suited to it, rather than a speedy way of moving through as in other Metroids.

That said, im expecting this one, due to its 3d nature rather than 2d ,to be of around 10/12 hours of pure gameplay ,1st play.
