actually her weird-like image was manufactured and the reason she does eletropop too.

britney was a discovered girl, from lousina, and could sing (her younger ages), production only happen when she turned sexy, and finally getting decent producers.

i don't disagree with your statement, but i should have been more elaborate with mine.

i have no doubt Britney has talent, that was probably the reason she was chosen for the "product"  but she is only part of that bigger picture. someone writes songs, someone makes the choreographies, someone designs the outfits... she presents it all in the end, but someone else decides about it.

And of course Lady Gagas style was manufactured, but that was mainly by herself, she has control over the product that she has chosen to be.  

I have  over 10 millions for Lady Gaga (The Fame and Monster) 

Britney's first album ...Baby One More Time sold 25 million copies worldwide (and it wasn't even the top selling album of the year). Gaga's The Fame couldn't have sold more than 10 million worldwide (and it ironically was the best sellign album of the year, goes to show you how people no longer buy albums). FTR Lady Gaga (according to Wikipedia) has sold 40 million singles worldwide so far and I honestly don't think Brintey managed to sell than many singles in the first 2 years of her career.

Both are awesome, but I'd have to go with Britney. Britney is already a living legend, Gaga will be one in another few years.

gaga, predebut wasn't a weirdo fashion women like she is now, so i believe label had a hand on it.

britney doesn't write all her songs that's true, but she works along side the producers, and songs are written especially since her third album (which wasn't good either sold millions).

for a while weird is the new cool. from katy to kesha, they seem to get popular now

the fame wasn't the best selling album of the year it was that Susan boyle album.

I would have to agree with the above statements, I have heard them both live and gaga really does have an exceptional voice, britney live is still heavily produced but I saw her on the ellen show singing christmas carols without any production and on a good day I could stay in key better than her, no joke

still britney iwas arguably the inspiration for my entire social group, she started not just fashoin trends but set the 'ideal' look for girls like me. Gaga is just a singer that attracts a lot of attention/contreversy (good and bad) so its hard to tell if any are 'better' than the other, Britney was a cultural and commercial force that gaga could never match, but Gaga is a much more capable artist comparitively
