Forums - Sales - Kinect pre-orders boom (More than 500k preorders by launch! UK ONLY!)

I have to say here, in the Netherlands, it is still very quiet for both of Move and Kinect. I don't think Kinect will have a wonderful success in this holiday season due to the technical issue and critical negative review from the hardcore gamers.

yeah, that was what killed the Wii... Wait...

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

This doesn't make sense. No offense but I would wait for a second source on this. However if true then it would exceed my expectations of what Kinect could do. But since the 360 revision is already doing that, it does explain that part of the success of the revision could be anticipation for the interface. IIRC didn't the Xbox 360 get a boost the week of E3 last year because of Natal as it was called then?

Not exactly a solid article or proof tbh...and yet people try to defend 'this'? :P tone changes so much from thread to thread

anywho I honestly think Kinect is capable of moving this many units without a problem....and it will do REALLY well in the holidays...I don't believe h/e that it will keep that momentum...time will tell

Before we go ape over this, some analysis.

Retailers are reporting high pre-order numbers for the device,

No names. Good start. Oh, also no numbers.

which will be available in November for £129.99 bundled with Kinect Adventures.

Fair enough. Facts.

In fact MCV understands one large chain has encouraged stores to secure 10 pre-orders for Kinect a day.

a) Really? The name of this chain?

b) ENCOURAGED. "Hey, guys, it would be nice if you could get 10 pre-orders a day". Yes, that would be nice indeed. Doesn't mean this is any sort of projection or evidence.

Sources says they expect advance orders to topple half a million in the UK by launch.

Here we are with "sources" again. These guys are worse than VG247. For all we know, the "sources" are Pachter and Wedbush Morgan.

Remember this is without anyone purchasing the Kinect Bundle 360s when it hits.

All these orders are for stand alone Kinect units.

M$ are going to dominate the sales this holiday.

Pachter was way off. He estimated half of the numbers

Actually, MCV used to be a DVD, Videogame chain themselves.

They have always been a reliable source for the UK. Anyone who lives here would know that.

Well, I live in the UK. I know MCV is a DVD and video game chain. That doesn't make them a reliable source, especially when their sources are nameless and refuse to provide concrete numbers. If you look at it, it's quite a well written article, because in a good six paragraphs, it gives a sense of positivity regarding Kinect without actually saying anything.

I'm not saying Kinect won't sell huge numbers. I'm saying that this isn't evidence that it will.
