To me, LBP felt a little lifeless and generic. I can't deny it was a good game but I won't be back for the sequel. Then again, there isn't a single game on that list that I'm hyped for. I guess I've grown out of touch.

Generic in what way?
I don't think I've played anything quite like it.

The game itself was unique. After playing the demo, I knew I'd end up buying it one day. It was charming, initially. But then, that charm wore off. The enemies were just random junk thrown together with flashing weak spots, the backgrounds were beautiful but didn't have anything artistic about them, the "characters" were more random junk with stickers on them, and the world itself just felt directionless. It was just a series of goals to get through for no real reason other than getting parts to build your own stages. I understand the point of the game was to show the potential of what you can build with a little imagination (all of the stages can be made from the tools that they gave us) but I had a hard time caring (and I love platformers and "kiddie" games). Even the paint gun didn't change my opinion.
My kid loves it though. We play mult-player all of the time but the whole time, I'm just looking for a reason to quit playing. Getting stickers and props and dressing up a character didn't equel a good time for me. Yet, a game like Hot Shots Tennis or New Super Mario Bros. manages to turn me into a collecting maniac. I can recognize it as a good/great game with sometimes wonky physics but I don't plan to buy the sequel.
