not especially... unless you trade in a PS3 slim.

i saw on game.co that you could trade in a ps3 slim and get 155 pound credit toward the 199 pound xboxS price.

Thats insane.Wonder what the profit margins are for these new 360 slims...

Also makes me think that Sony played the redesign PS3 card a little early.

I mean they stated they only broke even with the console few months ago. They should have lowered the price to 299 last year and then launched the slim when they can get profit out of it. Its an easy way to squeeze some money out of your existing userbase as long as you are making profit on  hardware...

Week of PS3 Slim (worldwide): 582,815

X360 S: 160,599 (took the week after to get full data) and 198,071 in EMEAA. So combining launch weeks, that's a total of 358,670.

Unless it sells over 200K in Japan, all these different articles talking about how the Xbox 360S has enjoyed a better launch in specific countries  are moot.

I mean, PS3 did 164,166 in America and 265,744 in EMEAA on launch week. Why is it news that the 360 did 198,071?

EMEAA launch was 5 days (PS3Slim) v 2 days (360S), it was also including a hefty price cut.

And in the US the 360S has had a better opening 4 weeks than the PS3 did for each and every week of its first 4 weeks.

Stop using logic, I don't think it's what he wanted to hear

Wow, impressive numbers.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Incredible number. I don't know if I dare to believe in that, the 200K VGC has for EMEAA this week...

Nice try starcraft. But...America for 4 weeks (only counting America because they are the only two comparable areas right now)

PS3 = 523,825

360 = 522,146
So not that much of a difference but....so much for logic I don't want to hear :P
@Kowenicki
It may only be two days, but as you yourself said, it was heavily, heavily preorded. I don't know how much of the bulk was sold because of the preorders, but how much extra do you think will sell in 3 days (to compare to the 5 day EMEAA for PS3)? Also, it may have been a price drop, but it's still 299.99 over there. Simple economics tells you that price does not change demand. Price changes the *quantity* demanded of good. And at 299.99, a higher quantity of PS3s were demanded than 360s on their respective launches

And looking at the bigger picture, when taking into account all the numbers for respective launch weeks comparing PS3 to X360, like I said before, unless the 360 does over 200K in Japan, then the PS3 had a better launch week, meaning more consoles sold, more money, etc. So the 360 having the best launch in UK is moot. That is fact. The 3DO could've had the best console launch in history...in Guatemala. But doesn't mean much when the competitor still outsold it. It's an exaggeration but fits the situation perfectly
