damn!!! that list is pale compared to sony's. Well in the end i am a consumer and not some multi billionaire giant so i prefer the company that gives me more games even if the company does get less profit.

Perhaps that's part of the reason some developers have chosen to side with the 360 for exclusivity of certain titles.
WIth that said and like many others I prefer the 360 exclusives.

This trend has continued even these past few weeks. The 360 has been selling significantly more hardware since the release of the 360S in North America, yet the ps3 is still selling more software (save for last week, but if you remove the two big new exclusives - Crackdown 2 and White Knight Chronicles 2 - ps3 wins). I think the buying base of ps3 owners is simply larger than that of 360 owners now, though some demographics will continue to lean one way or the other. Whether it's due to piracy, people rebuying the console (as shown buy the bump in hardware sales not accompanied by a bump in software sales these past few weeks), or what have you, ps3 owners are generally buying more software. |
Nice.

But the PS3 also has its share of exclusive 3rd party titles along with exclusive content with multi-platform games. Having a preference is fine, but your argument cuts both ways. Moot point.

I'm a little surprised that a moderator would come into this thread and perpetuate the unprovable claims so many Sony fans have been using to downplay M$' recent success. There is no evidence that a larger percentage of the new 360s are being sold to existing owners than the PS3 Slim. It is possible of course but to my mind no group of fans are more rabid and protective of 'their' console than this generation's Playstation Nation. If anyone is more likely to put a second box in their home or give their old one to a relative it is vocal, adamant PS3 supporters. There are always exceptions and maybe I have a biased viewpoint from what I read here at VGC.
Trying to prove that Sony now has more buyers with the SW sales achieved in 1/2 a year featuring the first HD editions of GOW and FF and several high-profile exclusives is ignoring that fact. Sony also outsold M$ by millions of consoles since Slim launched and they are now reaping the rewards. 360 SW sales will likewise increase late this year and in 2011 as new owners fill in their libraries with exclusives and multi-plats as well. The growth will not be as noticeable as the Slim's surge was larger and probably longer than the new 360's and it will be partially disguised by the holiday sell-a-thon. That's assuming Kinect is only mildly successful in pushing new HW and only slightly more popular than Move.
360 has a 110m unit lead in SW and almost 2 pts. in tie ratio. Without a radical and long-term reversal that is not going to change. The SW gap will likely open further this fall if multi-plat titles like Fallout Vegas and Black Ops continue the fairly standard pattern of outselling their PS3 counterparts by anywhere from one half to several million units. Check both Assassin's Creeds. Fallout 3, Red Dead Redemption etc. before declaring any pattern to the contrary. PS3 may win a month later in a title's life but rarely win the battle. Meanwhile M$ exclusives like Reach, and Fable 3 will outperform Sony's corresponding genre exclusives by large margins. The only way Sony will 'sell' more SW this fall or this gen. is to give it away. GT5 will buck the trend but can't reverse it.
This thread is somewhat mis-labelled as Sony would have to be making money overall to be making more on their SW. Gross income from 1st party SW units completely ignores the potential drawback to Sony's advantage as almost any HD dev can lose money. Sony would eat that loss. Perhaps they have in a few cases. M$ will not. A relative lack of 1st party devs is not necessarily a problem and running around buying expensive, existing studios is not a solution. Jmos obviously.

WTF are you talking about?
This thread was made Before the recent 360 EU boost so how is this downplaying recent success?
This topic aint got nothing to do with "360 selling less software = ppl just repurchased 360S"
If any1 who need to be moderated it's you for going on and on about ppl here = SONY FANBOYS blah SONY soldiers whiny whine here.
Ohhh Fable massively outselling every ps3 exclusve? ok how about a bet? If GT5 outsells fable 3 then you leave this site for good, how about that? you seem to talk highly about your 360 exclusive like their untouchable then lets see if you really got faith in them and take this bet.

PC software, Windows XP, Vista, 7 , Moble 7 apps, XBLA, and Xbox 360 all together. We are talking about software sales and Microsoft makes and sells a lot more software than just Xbox 360. If you're not going to count it all then you should just compare PS3 and Xbox 360 retail games and PSN/XBLA. |
first ur logic ????
second no1 didnt mention psn sales.
third if u look just at ps3 SW sales(51)its still more than 46.

It seems many of the 3rd party exclusives for the PS3 generally have a large appeal in Japan. For obvious reasons siding with the PS3 is best unless MS is throwing a ton of money at you. Personally, I tend to enjoy western games much more than Japanese games.
The exclusive content found in some PS3 games is likely something Sony works out to combat much of the exclusive content the 360 gets. I mean they had the GTA IV expansions, they get the Call of Duty DLC first, great XBLA titles, and they've even bought several of their exclusives. MS has been extremely competitive and Sony has to get (i.e. buy) an edge somewhere.

Thank you for expressing your opinion and personal preferences. It still doesn't back up your single-sided claim that:
"Perhaps that's part of the reason some developers have chosen to side with the 360 for exclusivity of certain titles."
Have a nice day.
