Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Official Metroid Other M Thread

I think it'll be closer than most people expect. With the holiday boost, there's the otside chance of Other M beating Corruption.

Actually, a VERY outside chance.

Almost as likely as the Wii being this far ahead this generation, for example...

Also, I never knew that one shot to the back from the ice beam is pretty much a kill shot for Samus. She really needs to get that obvious design flaw out of her suit!

*rolls eyes*

Ugh, there's just... too much silly stuff in this game.

I fled this thread in terror once.  I did just finish that scene with the scientist in the ice stage, though (trying to be as spoiler free as possible) but at the moment, this thread is not safe for me.  I shall return when I finish the game--hopefully, later today.  When I go back to work tomorrow, I won't be able to play until Saturday!

*logs off to beat Other M*

Poor Halo Reach.  I'll get back to it, later!

Does a British officer come in, to tell them to stop that silliness?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Nintendo weren't famous for being realistic.

And anyway, wasn't Metroid affectively Alien: The game? Even Ridley is mentioned, FGS...

Internal logic is what we want, not realism.

I like the OTT nature of the game, just as much as I did the more serious nature of the Prime series.

I think you just have to put these things into perspective; don't expect much logic in a franchise with such a convulted history.

Convoluted history doesn't excuse illogic. If you mean the continuity, then attempting to make a continuity is illogical. It's why neither The Spoony Experiment nor Atop the Fourth Wall give an official origin for Dr. Insano.

I'm getting as confused as the Nintendo timeline now...

If you mean those shows, google "The Spoony Experiment" and "Atop the Fourth Wall". They are web review shows, and part of "That Guy With the Glasses". Anyway, during a crossover, Spoony played a mad scientist on "Fourth Wall", named Dr. Insano. Just for laughs, they've come up with several possible origins for him in different videos, and they decided that none should be official, as that would make a mess.

Now Nintendo seems to have a vague timeline for Zelda, but nothing concrete to avoid too much confusion (for those that don't care to follow the timeline). This game is trying to do that, but make its own timeline, and that is part of the mess.
