Meaning that technically Samus has all her powers from square one, but she'll only use them when Adam lets her.

Now i'll grant that we've had to go through some significant deus ex machina to remove Samus' powers before (at least at the beginning of Prime, Prime 2, and Fusion), but this seems like the wrong antidote to that. It'll feel artificial as hell.

Boo! Boo!

Yeah, that is quite odd.

"Samus! You can kick their butts now."

"But not too badly."

WorthPlaying gave the game a 9/10. So it's... Worth Playing. *ba dum chish*

EDIT: Oh, just realized who reviewed the game for G4TV. Aha...

From the reviews it seems to be a very good game, but not a very good traditional Metroid Game. Kinda what happened with Silent Hill Shattered Memories. It's more action oriented, with few exploration until the very end (weird considering Sakamoto said it was a very important element).

Also it's kind sad the game is short with not much challenge. Super Metroid could be finished in less than 10 hours BUT once you knew what to do. This takes the same time the first playthough =(

I have mixed feelings, it's for Metroid fans because of Samus' story, but at the same time it's not a traditional Metroid game. I'll probably enjoy it, but I'm somewhat dissapointed with the exploration stuff

hmm. seeing mixed reviews here and there is what I was expecting... I can understand the whole inner-voice of Samus, but seeing X-play's is giving me the vibe that someone over there definitly wasn't playing it right/having a one track mind on how a game he wants to should be played.

XPlay did it too?

Score?

So they're sticking with the authorization method throughout the entire game?

Son of a bitch.

What is this authorization method? (Haven't been following any of the game).

And damn, scores are leeching lower than i thought. The controversy behind these design choices is not sitting well with reviewers, it seems.

Though we all remember how reviewers bitched and moaned about Mario Kart Wii, too.

The authorization is not really different from normal metroid-progression. Instead of finding items at some point, you get orders to use them.

Reviewers just don't like changes. They say they want new things, but actually they don't.

Who?

Morgan "olol Super Mario Galaxy" Webb.

Haha, my friend totally lied to me. It wasn't Morgan Webb at all. It was Abbie Heppe, and I have no idea who that is.

EDIT: All under false pretenses, apparently. Carry on.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Can you explain who's Morgan? And what she said about Mario Galaxy?

Wierd how outliers can drag a score down, huh?

Game Informer (Australia): 8/10 (80)
@Gamer (Best Buy's Gaming Mag): 4/5 (80)
Nintendo Power: 8.5 (85)
Famitsu: 9/9/8/9 (87.5)
Infendo: 3/5 (60)
GoNintendo: 7.2 (72)
IGN: 8.5 (85)
Destructoid: 6.5 (65)
GameSpot: 8.5 (85)
Worth Playing: 9 (90)
GamePro: 4/5 (80)
Game Informer (USA): 6.25 (62.5)
Giant Bomb: 4/5 (80)
Eurogamer: 8 (80)
Gamesradar: 7 (70)
XPlay: 2/5 (40)
Joystiq: 4.5/5 (90)
Wired: 9 (90)
Digital Chumps: 8.4 (84)

If you look at them, the real "range" of the score is 80-90, and there are only 7 of 19 scores under that range, but keep it a bit below 80 so far.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nice numbers, Khan. Man X-play really butchered the game with that score...
