Again, no-one cares who came up with the original idea.

Sony is seen as innovative by the average person, that's what matters.

lol. Im sure the average person is checking Sony pattents as we speak.

That's what I'm talking about.

thats 2 years old...

Doesn't matter.

Sony are always bringing out nice looking, modern, high quality products that often come with tag lines such as 'the most powerful,' 'the slimmest', 'the fastest' etc.

Also if you look at Sonys ads they ooze with creativity - they had 2 ads rated in the last decades top 20! Even the baby ad and the PS3 are seen as unique, innovative to the general bloke. Even though it's not significantly more powerful - the PS3 has the image as being seen as a beast.

With Blu-Ray, with 3D - Sony are probably seen as the leaders - even though they may or may not be.

It may sound like I'm riding Sony's nuts at the minute lol, but that's how it is. Sony has an exceptional image for a company.

It's the same with Kinect - when it launches MS and Xbox are going to be seen as very creative and innovative - even though similar tech might have been around beforehand etc.

Now that's pretty neat. It would be a visual clusterfuck for anyone else, but this could be a real breakthrough for 3DTV. Instead of picture-in-picture, imagine two people being able to watch different channels on the same TV (though one would have to settle for closed captioning)

even better!  my girlfriend watchs tons of crap i hate and she hates everything i like.  right now we go to seperate rooms but now we can be alone together!!

...but seriously.  this is just a patent.  when does the shit hit the market?  please don't tell me if i buy a 3D tv now i'll need a new tv again in 2 years.

" Also interesting is that the patent drawings show glasses with earbuds, like those old Oakleys. Imagine being able to get your own audio signal while you play."

That means you could hear only your sound when you play in split screen (like your footsteps and stuff).

That's what i get for only paying attention to half of the patent.

:/

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That's pretty cool. I still wouldn't jump into the current version of home 3D, but this is a great incentive if done right and pushed out on many local multiplayer games.

Keep the awesome features coming Sony!

Awesome. But why so many haters?

No haters here. We are just giving credit to where its due...

It will be cool if Sony releases this to the masses at affordable price but I can already do this using 2 xbox consoles(or PS3ss, wiis...etc), my DLP TV and a dualview to side to side checkerboard adapter.

Last I knew innovation in business (technology) included a commercial success, if speaking strictly academically (technology) then texas and sony did innovate and texas did it first.  But I'm not aware of any of this 3d stuff becoming a commercial success.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

I was worried it was a patent regarding a PSP2 or 3. I  don't care about this.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

If Sony makes this commercial with only one PS3 Console needed, this could definitely help with 3D sales with gamers and for normal use.
