You are describing an expensive project. Particularly the bolded, with how much text was in the original.

It's Final Fantasy VII. They made a CGI Movie based on the series, and several other games based on it. Price wouldn't be an issue for them IMO.

do you want a remake

or a

enhanced port?

 

remake is taking any game and recreating it for modern day technology dpendant upon where you choose to make it. Example if it was made for PS3 it would need to meet the requirments of a AAA PS3 and unfortunately SE just made FF XIII which only raised the bar.

ehanced port is taking any old game giving it a touch up and few Xxtras but the game remains largely the same.

 

Carl what just asked for in your post would take SE another 5 years to put it out( probaly more)...hell it would take months in it self just to completely remodel Midgard

hell another issue is the FF7 and lot of pre PS2 games were made on pre rendered backdrops, basically leaving SE without anything to work. this why pre 6 th gen game remakes usually goto handhelds because to wok it would take to catch them up to speed would be tremendous

FF IVs sound awful?  I think it has arguably the best soundtrack of any game and the DS remake completely does it justice.

A full remake on home consoles would take far far longer, cost far far more and considering current gen S-E games on the DS compared to the PS3, I think it will be better suited to a portable.  

Matrix software has done wonders with FF III and IV DS, giving them FF V, VI and possibly VII to do for the 3DS could be the best next gen decision S-E will make.

I'm not talking about the writing. that's irrelevant since it's already written.
I'm talking about the quality, it sounds fuzzy. I'm talking about, will it allow orchestration. So it will sound like FF:Distant worlds. etc.

I'm just saying, I'd rather have a new game. Than a game I loved, and accept how it is with touched up graphics.
And if they redo, go all out. And not on handheld. (But I hate handhelds in general)

True. They probably wouldn't do the voices for everything, thing. Just the main cast and important characters.

I personally think they would go all out on it though. I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on it now TBH. They get asked about it enough, and it's coming up to 15 Years since the Original released...

DS sound capabilities > N64 sound capabilities

so I can assume that

3DS sound capabilities will be roughly equal or better to GC sound capabilities (which I think will be more than adequate)

There is a reason I prefer FFI and FFII on the PSP. They were true enhanced versions with an upgraded engine. It would take quite a bit more work but anything short of an upgraded FFVII with near FFXIII graphics would be a no buy for me. What's the point of a new port when you can already get FFVII on PS3/PSP right now?
