I like your idea of Pokemon being superior to humans. But according to the anime, humans have guns. People use guns to kill things. Pokemon do not have guns. Humans do. Humans could potentially kill pokemon with their guns. Humans > Pokemon.

I pretty sure that Hyper beam is super effictive even on humans. :)

Lance's Dragonite used Hyper Beam on a human in HG/SS... the guy was knocked to the back of the room but seemed unharmed otherwise.
Scared out of his wits, sure, but unharmed.

That's because Nintendo doesn't want to show people dying in a Pokemon game. For example, Pokemon never die, the only faint. If there was a real Dragonite using Hyper Beam on a real human, I'm sure he/she would be dead.

then again humans in the pokemon universe seem to be far tougher than us I mean look at the anime, team rocket regularly survive massive explosions and thousand foot drops. Plus I seem to remember Ash being burnt to a crisp by Charrazard and being fine seconds later. And kids are thrown out to fend for them selves at the age of 10 serious badassery there, imagine how long you would have survived on your own in a world full of giant monsters at the age of 10.

So... the "human type" is almost entirely resistant against every single style of attack. Pokemon, while incredibly powerful, can do almost nothing more than scratch a human due to the human's natural resistance. I suppose it's starting to make more sense.
Those humans must have been part of the Spartan Training Program.
