I think we will see a Dragon Quest VII remake for 3DS and a Dragon Quest VIII port for Wii

if thats true, thats one less PS2 game i need to buy. hopefully they'll get rid of random battles

OT: i hope we do actually see something about this game soon. i also hope it has less turned based combat in it.

Summer next year in Japan then. And 2945 in Europe.

2945? My sources say 3005 at the earliest What that's nothing to smile about, I'm not from Europe but as an RPG I really tired of you guys getting screwed

Even if they have DQX by next year for Japan, it looks very bad for us in the west getting it anywhere near then.  I'm afraid tge game might be one of those that gets caught in 'limbo' and never released internationally, because a new system is announced and launched.  Much like Seiken Densetsu 3 and Tales of Pantasia on the SNES.

But I'm optimistic.  DQIX seems to be selling better than all the previous games (thanks to, OMG, advertising) and so perhaps SquareEnix will wake up and actually start treating the series like something more than a forgotten step child and give it a proper and timely release outside Japan.

But that assumes the next home system is coming, and this isn't following the typical console pattern right now.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Of course, its all assumption.  But Nintendo has been making quite a few comments about a future console (quite a few more than they ever did in the past).  And many people, even those who don't like Nintendo, expect them to try to bring out their next system by 2012.  Plus, just looking at the last launch of theirs, they launched the DS in 2004 and the Wii in 2006.  If they followed that pattern, we will probably see the 3DS at the end of 2010 and the new Wii in 2012.  It just makes sense when both Sony and MS are sitting on their hands and trying to throw out things like 'Kinect' as a solution to the Wii.

But where does all this leave DQX?  Basically, it forces them to rush development.  BOth DQVIII and IX had 4 years of development.  So, unless they've been secretly working on DQIX and X at the same time, that doesn't leave much room for DQX.

That's a lie. People trying to discredit the Wii have been making those comments. The closest Nintendo has ever said is something would happen when they have an idea for it. So stop expecting anything by 2012. You're just falling for hater bullshit.

Why would I be referencing the negative comments about Nintendos new system from 'haters'?  I'm talking about stuff like Miyamoto commenting about the next system possibly having HD support or Iwata talking (at E3) about their next console possibly having 3D support.  And a whole list of mentions of their 'console in progress' by Nintendo execs.

Its obviously being worked on.  If it doesn't come out in 2012, oh well.  But 2012 or 2013, the point still stands.  The Dragon Quest team (Armor Project and Development Team Unknown) have a more strict deadline than on past titles.
