Pippen overrated?

The guy can do everything. He can pass, he can score, he can defend. He can play any position. He can play point, shooting, forward, even center if he has to. More importantly, he's a complimentary player. He doesn't need to be in the spotlight.

You guys who are putting so many scorers in your team: think about it. How are Lebron, Kobe, Jordan, Chamberlain, Erving, etc. coexist in one team? All of them want the ball at the same time. None of them know how to pass. That's why I only included Jordan, because he's the best of the scorers who can create his own shot. You don't need more than one of that same player.

And what's with the Lebron thing going here? Lebron has done nothing except choke in the playoffs. He's been in the first seeded team two years in a row, yet has shown no ability to get to the finals. Lebron is overrated.

Pippen was a great shooter as long as he wasn't moving to his left, no one wasn't getting physical with him, or if it wasn't inside the final two minutes.  He was a great defender and a pretty good passer.  You saying that he could play center is laughable.  Sorry.  He never did that and believe me, he couldn't.  Truth be told, Scottie was a great defender and a slightly above average offensive player that got way too much credit because he was playing with Michael.  The year and a half that Jordan wasn't playing, Toni Kukoc was taking the "clutch" shots for the Bulls since Scottie couldn't handle it.  He didn't win any titles with the Rockets either.

I agree that Lebron is overrated, but he's a bettter player than Scottie was.

Now Dennis Rodman, that was a great complimentary player that didn't need to be in the spotlight...

I agree with Rodman, but I'd put Ben Wallace in instead of him.

Pippen.. well, every team needs a guy like him. I think he's the best all around guy who ever played the game. He has championship rings to prove it, whereas Lebron does not. When Lebron wins, ok, I'll accept him. Until he has, there's no comparison.

Where the hell is Kevin Durant!?!?

The best all around player is either Oscar Robertson or Magic Johson in my opinion, but to each his own.

About championships, or the amount of them, should not be the main deciding factor when it comes to greatness.  Malone, Stockton, Barkley, and Ewing all played at the same time as Scottie and didn't win a ring ( I personally think they were all better players).  Also, Robert Horry has 7 rings and I think that we can agree that he's not better than  Jordan.

yes, but we can all agree that a winner is a winner. and we all know that jordan could not have won without pippen. if i am to choose between two great players, one who has championship rings and the other who doesn't, i would always choose the one who does, because he has championship experience, and he is a proven winner.

about horry. well, we all know the truth about horry. he's in my team, no matter how little of a role he plays. i just need him defrosted for the last 2 minutes of the game. in that span of time, he's the MVP of any team.  how many games have been decided by horry's heroics? too many to count.

to me, winning championships is what separates a good player from a great player. barkley, malone, stockton, etc. are good players. they may be better individual players than pippen. but without a championship, they'll always be just that. good individual players, not great champions.
