Forums - Sony - Move Truly Brings Motion Control To Core Domain

Question is, will there be enough of a consumer base, who are core gamers.. AND own a PS3, AND want motion controls, AND don't already own a Wii?

Nobody is going to buy a PS3 just for Move, so needs to focus its marketting on its existing user base, and I'm not sure there is a huge market for more core based motion controls. Besides, Nintendo is already bringing motion control to the core domain, and it's called Zelda: Skyward Sword.

My best friend is, that's one person so far.  More to follow.

I have been seeing the core bash motion control on here over and over.  I am curious, even if Move works real well, if the core market would end up buying it.

There's quite a big diffrence beetween motion controls coming in underpowered 480p capable console with extremly limited supply of titles worth buying, which is sold at astronomical prices and motion controls added for proper console with huge existing library of games and support for good amount of games worth playing.

Except that both of those systems came out at the same time, and the HD console had shit for games for years whiel the other one didn't. Still didn't make them buy it, motion controls or not. Fanboys is what it is.

"Shit for games" is a matter of opinion as I've had my Wii since launch and I only have three games, but with my PS3 it is a very different story and I've had it since launch too.  If I had not been laid off, I would have more games for each system, but that's another story.

This seems like one of those discussions that are going to go badly within the next page or so.

I don't see why it's such a big deal to think some people are interested in the Move. They do have to ensure they are going to release enough core Move games to satisfy their audience. As for now, I don't see Sorcery and the Studio Ghibli games being enough to really persuade that many people at the moment, even if they are both titles to keep an eye out for when they come out.

For me, as a current PS3 owner, the only game that really gets me pumped for Move is MLB11: The Show.  However, Sorcery did look interesting.

Sorcery didn't actually impress me that much, but titles like Echochrome II and Tumble that really take advantage of the Moves precision warrant a buy for me.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Ouch.. Quite a bit of venom in this post.

Wii personally has the most games I enjoy, certainly not "extremely limited amount of titles worth buying." You are stating your opinion as if it is fact.

Personally, I can count the number of PS3 games (exclusives anyway) that interest me on my one hand. But to each his own I guess..

I think people get confused by the term 'motion control', and immediately picture a tiger or bowling ball...

A PC mouse is a motion controller - in core games the move can function in a similar method (with minor rotation in place of minor movement).

Whether people will buy the move, and whether it will achieve it's potential - who knows, but it's certainly the most promising of the "motion controllers".

Well more power to him if he is willing to fork out $460 for the console and accessories. What I should have said is VERY FEW people interested in motion controls enough to buy a console for it would buy PS3 just for Move. Most of these consumers probably already own a Wii, or rather buy a Wii, which is only $200 and comes with a motion controller Wii Sports Wii Sports Resort.

I don't think so. I suspect that it'll be the next generation before you'll have truly great motion controls for all gamers and all game types. Move and the Wiimote both seem to be limited in this respect, its a half-way measure because people would have to buy both the legacy controllers and the motion controllers. Its not practical, so we wait until someone truly does get it right. Chances are that company will of course be Nintendo.

Actually, what you should have said is, I don't really know how many people will buy Move because my opinion doesn't speak for the other 6 billion in the world.  To be a bit more clear, nobody in the world will know until it comes out, so let's just wait and see.

And @Metallicube, do we always have to put an imo in front of our posts?  I see a lot of people getting banned for not doing this sometimes but seriously if I (personally) say something then it is 99% of the time an opinion, unless I state it as a fact in which case it is actually a fact that I have researched, and not my opinion.

lol.  That line's pretty rich given the announced Move lineup so far.  The herdcore may lament Wii's portfolio, but even it's announced pre-launch lineup absolutely slaughters what Sony's trying to peddle Move with...
