What's wrong with Valkyria? Look:

Pew pew!

*sigh*

That's right, because the entire span of Valkyria chronicles is just that right? You don't control the units and position them like a normal SRPG, you don't have a limited amount of Action points and inventory management like a normal SRPG and you don't need to actually have a strategy to beat the campaign.

No, it's all just that single picture you posted.

You know what, I won't bother. I'll let your posts do the talking, they do a good enough job of ridiculing you.

lulz

I was just kidding :/

If you were, then I apologize, but it didn't look like it

Plus, it wouldn't be the first time that I saw that line of argument against VC, that's why I approached your posts like I did.

Like I said, I apologize if you were indeed kidding

I really hope this is one big joke cuz I really like you and I don't want to have to start labeling you >:[

Ok ok let's get serious.

The Valkyria shooter thing was a joke :p

It's much more of a SRPG with elements from other genres like action and shooting and I guess that's why it ended up being so good.

FFXIII is, and I'm serious, the best JRPG, on the PS3. Now it's nothing close to the best JRPG ever but I think it was still a very enjoyable game especially after WKC :/

Now please people don't put me on any of your lists <.<

I found this thread entertaining. Mainly because of Boutrous... whenever I think of him I think of the mad hatter because of his old avatar. And he reminded me of him.

That said. TWEWY is a little better imo. And far more innovative imo. Though Obviosly if you look at my sig I love them both.

I'm normally on the FFXIII defensingness. not this time unfortunately :(

I'm going to turn around and read this entire thread but I don't want other people's opinions to taint my personal feelings.

It was an extremely beautiful game, the characters were likeable cliches, and the battle system was simplified, fast paced, and fun.  For almost a month, FF13 was the only console game (not counting handhelds) that I played.  At absolutely no point in the game did I feel any sort of connection with the characters, any sense of urgency or accomplishment, any feelings at all for the bland enemies, or any satisfaction after I beat the game.

Some games (FFVII-FFX, Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid 3, Heavy Rain, even Gears of War or Uncharted 2) resonate with me long after the final credits roll.  I feel like I've experienced something special.  Games with low production values have given me this feeling, too.  With FF13, it just feels like a bunch of pretty, flashy events that took place without any real purpose.  The whole thing felt random.  A bunch of people who were "good" because I controlled them battled a bunch of people who were "evil" for reasons I could care  less about.

It reminds me of the Star Wars prequels except that I actually gave a damn about the prequels.

I was somewhat disappointed to begin with but after having played pretty far into chapter 11 I can honestly say that I am now extremely disappointed. Its become an action game with only minor RPG elements and in my opinion FFXII stands head and shoulders above XIII in all ways (except visuals of course, then again, FFXII has perhaps some of the best visuals on the PS2 ever).

Final Fantasy has always had a somewhat cliche story with cliched characters and there haven't been huge leaps between installments in general (save for X-2 and XII that is) but they've been enjoyable, deep and immersive. FFXIII just feels dead and you can't interact with anything or anyone, there's no life or zest and all the depth has been replaced with an MMO like auto fighting system.

I'm sorry Square Enix, but if this is what this series is going to be from now on, I will stop buying Final Fantasy games after more than fifteen years of loving the series to bits.

I started it again today. and i'm still totally in love with it. It is just a technical masterpiece IMO.

A very under-rated game, a well placed third in my FF fav list.

I was so bored with it by disc 2 that I just stopped. I hope those FF fanatics are right and FFXIII Versus is the better version but I doubt it.

Read the thread.  Enjoyed it.  Looks like FF13 is quite possibly the biggest disappointment of the year if not this gen.

That would be Eternal Sonata or Folklore for me (don't laugh), although Meta doesn`t seem to agree (80 vs 83). I loved ES but I still haven`t finished XIII because it's so fucking tedious a chore. It's a great game on many technical aspects, but I don't like the pacing.

I still like it better than RE5 though, whatever Jarrod says. But then it's probably a question of different tastes.
