Forums - General - is anyone here Insomniac ?

@Severance

Try doing physical effort. Go to the gym, work out, go jogging, be active. If you live a very sedentary existence, you're simply not consuming all your energy.

You could also try reading a very boring book.

And of course don't forget: have lots and lots of sex. That ought of tire you out, and it's fun too

If you can't go to bed just jack off. Even if it doesn't help you go to sleep. you'll at least be happy.

Insomnia is often caused by some sort of change in your life. Did something happen after high school? Any truma, new stressful job, staying away from home for an extended period of time etc.?

If you haven't already, try talking to someone about it (be it friends, family or a psychiatrist).

A tip that helps me sleep is, if I'm in my bed trying to sleep and I havn't dozed off in an hour, then I get out of bed and do something else for 15 - 30 min and then go to bed again. It usually helps me anyway. Just laying awake in your bed for hours isn't a good idea I think.

That said, it's not that often I can't sleep myself (a few times a month maybe), so it might not be the same.

i got actually better mentally after highschool not the other way around

but i think i'll try the bolded

It's 1.25am now where i am... i guess that answers your question.  But i am sick and slept in yesterday till 1pm in the arvo after going to sleep at 11pm, so i think i just have the carry on affect.

I got insomnia after i used to smoke weed then stopped, and i havn't really been able to kick the insomnia since, but weed was screwing with my head so not going back to that.  Some might argue prescription meds are better but i try avoid them if possible.  What currently works for me is being active through the day then nothing stimulating at night, so just watch some tv but nothing to exciting, and i'll have a rum to calm me right down.

Don't take that the wrong way.. i don't recommend finishing a bottle of rum or something, but just one drink will really make you tired.

I get insomnia pretty regularly, it comes and goes, usually lasts a couple of weeks then the exhaustion just takes me to sleep.

Sometime i can feel tired during the day, but as soon as i get into bed, i'm wide awake.

Few things i do:

- Reading - when i'm struggling to fall asleep i read, it clears your mind and gives you something to concentrate on other than the clock. Plus if it doesn't work, at least you are doing something productive.

- make sure you keep your bed for just 2 things, sleeping and sex. don't sit in bed for too long if you can't sleep, get up and do something. you want your subconscious mind to associate bed as a place to sleep, and not a place to think/stare at the ceiling/clock watch.

- avoid sleeping pills. I find they work for me, but i can't wake up in the morning properly and i'm groggy all the next day. aslo you can start to get addicted to them as it becomes the only way you can fall asleep.

- Finally, do exercise during the day to get your body tired before you go to bed. Even a walk in the late evening can be good.

Can't say its the miracle cure, but it works most times. Reading bit is the best for me, if i really concentrate on the words, each one individual word, then my eyes and mind get tired, and i can turn the light out and fall right asleep. can take a while though.

alot of people have trouble sleeping

there could be alot of things affecting your sleep you need to check before going further things like pillow mattress and air temp are some easy things to fix

i use melatonin or drink kava kave tea before i go to sleep if i know i wont be able to go to sleep

also try not to do anything like plaing video games or using internet  or eating a few hrs before going to sleep

you need to get a good sleep schedule going go to sleep the same time and wake up the same time every day good times are 10pm - 7am dont stay longer than 9 am

also your day should be active the more your active during the day the better sleep quality you'll have

how do you get allergic to sunlight thats serious the sun is important to overall health you need sunlight

Try reading a book before you go to bed....usually helps to make me sleepy.

I'm Insomniac.

I don't have insomnia, but I do occasionally have trouble falling asleep when I'm stressed or worried. I either do some intense excersize for a bit or read/write to distract myself for a bit until I feel tired enough to fall asleep.

No, but I have anxiety and sometimes it takes me a long time before I fall asleep.
