I still find it interesting that in america the 360 is seen as  a wonderful machine yet in the rest of the world it is seen as a microsoft system hence waining sales

Care to explain the UK then, or is that just a statistical anomaly in your theory?

And Australia.  Kinda funny that 360 seems to lead in most english speaking nations, while PS3 leads elsewhere.

360 was leading in Korea too, but we haven't really heard about the console race there in like a year.

Well slim is about to release in UK in two weeks time, further surge in WW sales is bound to occur from then on.

The question really is whether the boost is coming from slim sales or clearance old 360s.

On amazon and other sites, the slim has been selling well below the regular ps3 except for during one week where it was in the top 5 video game sales.

At least for people who buy online, the slim itself isn't what is making the big impact, it's the older models. To relate this to the ps3 slim (because it was in a similar position last year, and everything 360 involves ps3, and vice versa)

  • The slim is the more expensive console compared to other models (comparitively, the ps3 slim and older models were all reduced to the same price)
  • The slim is released at the same time as the clearance pricing (compared to old ps3 dropping in price followed by the slim release a few weeks after)
  • It isn't being released during a holiday season (compared to a September release)
  • The price hasn't changed (compared to a 25% drop in price, 360 slim is still the same price as older 360 models)

It will be up the rest of the year in America slightly but Europe and Japan will fade back quickly to where they were before the slim.

no its reaching high saturation in that region will see sub 70ks in august

and no it wont trump PS3 for the holidays b/c of NA theres still EU and JP to count in WW sales if it wanted to trump PS3 for the holidays then MS should of launched 360 slim at sep or oct sales would of been better that they are now had they waited

but i guess desperate times call for desperate measures

Things were desperate?

So the 360S is a desperate measure and the PS3 slim is a cunning and ingenious tactical deployment... ?  I see.  You are so one-eyed its embarrassing.

Both MS and Sony have launched these revisions to boost sales and for no other reason.  Neither is desperate and both made sound business sense at the time.

yes imo MS releasing the 360S was desperate and ripped off previous MS owners that have to settle for the older skus i wonder if MS made the older skus the way they did on purpose so that it would provoke previous owners to upgrade

heres why the ps3 slim wasnt desperate the ps3 slim was released 1st and sony has a history of releasing slims every gen MS doesnt its funny how theres some articles saying that the 360S was in dev since over 2 yrs ago but the ps3 slim beat it to the market and its tech is sub par compared to the ps3 slim, watt usage and the size if the 360S has been in dev that long why does it use almost double the watts? why is there still an external power brick? why is there no slot loading?

also the ps3 slim didnt have to add many features to achieve the high sales it did it actually striped some touch sensitive, shinny finish, other OS, usb posrts which to me wouldnt be classified a desperate attempt to achieve sales

no the ps3 was not release for sales there was no option for sony they had to make a system that cost less to make and in MS case they didnt and i wouldnt be surprised if the 360S cost the same to make or just slightly less then the older skus

not stop constantly quoting me and name calling me in threads b/c its making you look embarrassing ive explain myself why i think the 360s is a desperate attempt to achieve sales and in some case resales and i believe there good points you havent explained why you think it isnt you just named called in your post

also it doesnt matter if im one eyed or not im brave enough to show who i really am unlike some other posters on here that have to fake it

Wait, let me get this straight.

So when Sony was looking dead in the water, 3 years into their console's life, they released a stripped down, much cheaper version of their console to restore their poor sales. This is not desperate.

But when a 5 year old console releases a newer HIGHER END model with increased functionality and no price cut... it's desperation? Do you even read what you write? Even the most entrenched of Sony fanboys would struggle to agree with you here.

does anybody in this thread realize that their consoles are being ripped apart by an antiquidated (on a graphics level) machine

and it's just a big LOL at how they are so blind?

Prediction Kinect and Move will FAIL miserably because they are just add ons to an exisiting console and not designed around it. I believe the wii vitality sensor would sell more than these two

This slim is sold out.  Even pre-orders are sold out which is why it isn't above the PS3 slim on Amazon.  All the stores I go into (Best Buys, Walmarts, etc) have tons of old discounted units sitting around still, yet as soon as any new 360S consoles arrive they are instantly sold out again.

Also, I expect the price to drop for the holidays and around the Kinect launch frame.  A slimmer 360S with just an increase in HDD and added Wifi should be able to shave off at least $50 on the price and still be profitable.

- The switch to 250GB HDD is just a standard move and probably costs them little to no extra cost over the 120GB of last year.

- Adding in a wireless N card will add maybe ~$10-20 in manufacturing costs.

So on a system that was already highly profitable at $300, the shrink in overall design, die shrink, combo CPU/GPU, cooling shrink, etc. should be enough to have manufacturing costs on this new unit as low as $200 or less per machine.

yes high end why wasnt it released at launch like that? or 2-3 yrs later? did you not read my 1st few sentences in my post

There is clearly no point in arguing with you... your predictions are all god awful and your logic does not exist in the realm of intelligent thought.

Seriously for a while you were actually being an intelligent, logical poster but as of late you've taken a fast downhill turn.
