Forums - Sales - Call of Duty: Black Ops Pre-Orders Outpacing MW2

... says analyst

It will be interesting this holiday season to see if the Infinity Ward situation has any effect on the sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson believes that Black Ops will sell 12 million copies, up from his previous estimate of 10 million. Wilson has spoken to his firm’s retail sources and has found that pre-orders for Black Ops are outpacing those of Modern Warfare 2.

Activision has gone on record noting that each Call of Duty title outperforms its predecessor, but Wilson believes Black Ops will be the end of that trend. Wilson believes that “competition, weaker marketing, and the Infinity Ward situation” will prevent Black Ops from reaching Modern Warfare 2’s staggering sales of 16 million during the fourth quarter of 2009.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is scheduled for release on November 9, 2010.

No way its impossible... ahah

Pretty epic.

This post is interesting to the subject: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3519672

Even with a Wii version and a PC version with dedicated servers, I seriously doubt it.

It's interesting to see how this plays out.  I don't think Black Ops will outsell Modern Warfare 2 because of all the FPS coming out this fall, especially Halo: Reach and Medal of Honor.  There's more competition this year than last.

Well, that's what the analyst thinks too.

Oh, well I guess I pretty much just repeated what the analyst said.  Lol.

So the marketing will be weaker. Why's that? :-/

What if Black Ops had MOVE support.

OT: Black Ops won't sale as good as Modern Warfare's 2. Black Ops name sounds lame compared Modern Warfare 2. However, if it was called Modern Warfare 3, then more people would buy it. Or at least thats what the kids say on my block.

Am I the only one getting sick of the CoD franchise?
