I only agree with half of it, really. Yes, you can complete missions in several different ways. It's just that none of them are remotely enjoyable.

Let alone the dreary grey-brown palette, clunky controls, lack of character depth and, of course, the billions of watch camps filled with enemies who want you dead and make it impossible to ever get around to doing anything. The first mission took me some two hours.

They're as enjoyable as you make them, it's not pre-scribed how enjoyable the developers want it to be. I can't say about the clunky controls, I've only played the PC version. You can take buses to get to your destination faster.
