Ah, the FF3 remake. Glad to finally see that game come over to the Americas! It took long enough, but it completes the cycle of great FF games to get releases. And it was quite a blast to play through, even if that last dungeon did have me pulling some hairs out...

(And yeah, go ahead and add me too. I'm playing way too many RPGs on that little thing!)

The FF3 remake was probably the first RPG I got on the DS, I haven't played the FFIV remake yet but I'm happy with what they did with the FF3 remake, definitely a nice update, challenging at times and overall I had a good time with this game.

i LOVED FF3 on DS , it was really something special, pure and innocent, its also the first time that i actually UNDERSTOOD what is happening instead of a fan translation, also loved the characters, a lot of people probably hated them but they gave the game a whole new level of freshness.

Handheld games should get more attention on these forums, i am really getting sick of people being such graphic whores.

So it appears that while FFIII may not be at the top of most people's top Final Fantasy game list, it's not among the worst either. That seems to coincide with everything I've heard about the game. I never enjoyed the little i played of the numbered games in the series, which explains why I'm fairly ignorant about this game, i grow bored of FF games that lack the Crystal Chronicles subtitle really quickly. The franchise failed to resonate with me on the whole, odd since i couldn't get enough of Dragon Quest IV. That hasn't stopped me from giving some games a good go though, a friend allowed me to borrow FFXIII recently so I'm going to try and complete that when i get a chance. Hopefully i won't find it as boring as he did though. I may give this game a go if the opportunity arises as well.

coming from a huge Final Fantasy fan , i'd say you should try FFIX and put down FFXIII for now.

One of the reasons I recommended to Robo to start the DS thread (after his PSP thread).  Handhelds are my favorite part of this gen (besides Demon's Souls)

@Robo: Ill take position 0 as usual :)  While I might be fairly new to my DS (had it for a bit, but just finally got some games) it will get a good bit of use over the next 9 weeks

So true man, in fact I would say that I do about 70% of my gaming on the DS, the other 30% is used by the PS3 and Wii. I have found that in my particular case I find it easier to play and enjoy RPGs on handhelds more than on consoles. Don't get me wrong I think there's great RPGs on HD consoles but in the end the DS eats up more of my time

All of my peers who follow the franchise either despise FFXIII altogether or say its no where near as good as previous entries, yet myself - who i far less enthusiastic about the franchise and has yet to play through even one numbered FF game entirely - am usually the one who remains optimistic about its overall quality. The one who lent me the game says the games biggest problem (just one of a myriad, apparently) is its battle system, which he repeatedly labels as horrific. His favorite title is FFXII btw. I only ever read positive impressions of the game a short while before it was released in the US, back then there were many claims that it had the best battle system in any FF game ever, so i just wen't along with it until now. Is the game really that bad?
