Forums - Nintendo - I still want Sega Saturn games on VC

It takes nearly high-end PC's to emulate Saturn games, they were designed rather oddly in that regard so I doubt we will ever see them on the VC

personally I would like to see Atari 2600, PS1 (3rd party) and more Japanese-only games ported over.

I would really like to see Intellivision games. I know many would end up with vastly different control schemes, but that wouldn't stop me from buying them by the dozen.

Probably would make Mike_Intellivision's dream come true also.

Dreamcast games would be nice too.

Did Saturn really have a multicore CPU?

Always, that is why I am complaining Saturn isn't on VC..  The diff processors apparently make it hard to emulate...

The reason that Saturn/Dreamcasts are on the VC is simple - Space.

Saturn used CD that hold 700mb (I think), while the Wii's Internal memory holds 512mb (again I think)

and don't even consider DC as it used GDROMs which are even bigger and some games like Skies of Arcadia came on multiple discs.

I expect Saturn and dreamcast for VC for the Wii's successor though

Saturn emulation's come a long way, and a Wii spec machine could probably handle the majority of games on it.  Licensed official Saturn emulators were used for Gametap, and even some commercial PSP releases (Princess Crown, Devil Summoner).  The real problem here is filesize, though some Saturn games have pretty small footprints and could be doable (VF1 is only 30MB iirc for example).  Some 2D games could probably take the TGCD route and use modern audio/FMV compression to help reduce that, but most of the 3D games have too much texture or animation data to really make that viable.

Personally, I think Saturn (along with Dreamcast and Gamecube) would be best saved for Wii 2's VC.  I would like to see Sega CD and 32X for the current VC though, no real reason we shouldn't have those games.  We should also get way, way more arcade games, from Sega and others (Namco, Capcom, Konami, IREM, Nintendo, Taito, etc, etc).

Ah yea Sega CD and 32x.  I only enjoyed Tomcat Alley on Sega CD (enjoyed it so much rent Sega CD from blockbuster at least 2-3 times just to play that game).  There were some decent games on both those system but I really wasn't exposed to most them cause I didn't buy the CD and 32x for my genesis.

I agree with you a about more arcade games.  The 90s had a ton of really good arcade games (was the last decade when arcade was in it prime / slowly losing it's hold on video game consoles).  Used to love Raiden, most Sega arcade games, and many more....  They need to expand the arcade vc into the 90s at least.  The file size of some games might be big but I am sure most classic 90s could fit.

Two parallel processors, but not as separate from one another as Jaguar's multiple processors were.

i know a bit about architecture, but not enough to explain this, but you can read it yourself if you want. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Saturn#Processors

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
