Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo trademarks a HD

Nintendo discovering the wonders of technology, this thing allow players to copy  entire games into the HD

Nintendo’s plan is to make a separate hard drive partition for each DVD game. Once games are saved on a hard drive, the Wii reads a directory and shows all available games with box art. This is done by accessing a virtual DVD partition on the hard drive. The interface also displays ESRB ratings and the patent mentions possible parental controls.

Now, this system is actually working on some retailers and stores, the question is Is this patent for a Wii hard drive? or for a future system? The world may never know.

HD is also the short for Hard drive ... yup

I'm guessing that you would need to have the disc inside the Wii(or whatever system) to play the games that have been saved on the hard drive. Or else I can see a problem with piracy...

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

So Nintendo stole the idea from the Homebrew scene which often steals games from Nintendo?

No, that's HDD (Hard disk drive).  You don't see it shortened to HD often.  Ever?

It's already really easy for pirates so this will make no difference.
