Microsoft's claim shot down by developer

Kinectimals dev, Frontier has clarified that its upcoming motion game DOES NOT share any technology with Lionhead's own title Milo & Kate.

The clarification comes after Microsoft Game Studios' Phil Spencer said that technology from Lionhead's Milo ended up being used in the virtual pet game.

Chairman of Kinectimals developer Frontier, David Braben, has now told OXM that this isn't actually the case. We're so confused right now.

"I'd like to address some stories that are currently circulating, that Kinectimals from Frontier is somehow related to Milo and Kate from Lionhead," he explained.

"Kinectimals has been in development since before we saw Milo. It is built using Frontier's own technology shared with other Frontier games in development, and ideas evolved from earlier games like 'Dog's Life'.

"There has not been any involvement in the technology or design by Lionhead. Milo and Kate is a completely separate (and intriguing) development from Lionhead."

So there you have it, the latest twist in the ongoing Milo & Kate news tennis. We've done more Milo stories this week than we have all year.

I decided to post this because I was reading a thread yesterday on GamrConnect and some users were claiming that Kinectimals uses Milo's tech.

It seems that this has been happening a bit lately, one person from MS makes a claim and then it is shot down by other employees of MS. Very strange.

"Yeah, for sure. And, you know, there's some of the technology in the animals game and the sports is actually fed from Milo already. Little tiny bits of technology are scattered in other games. "

We and the media should all not post a single word about Kinect or its games until it comes out. It's all misinformation and talking off both sides of their mouths (kinect is for hardcore early adopters, no, it's for casuals, this, the Milo stories...).

You know, these execs are falling into a pattern that many people do:  talking about things that they think as fact.  If they don't know for sure, the SMART thing to do is to yield to those that do.  "I'm not exactly sure, it seems like the same tech but I would have to defer to the Frontier and Lionhead guys about that."  And that goes for Molyneux too!

And you know who else it goes for?  PEOPLE WHO POST ON A FORUM!  Yeah, we need to do the same thing or else it makes us dirty hypocrites.  If you don't know for sure don't type it out like you do.  Check the sig, yo.  ↓

two different studios making the same tech, happens all the time. The issue here is the game "journalists" have the mind of a 10 yr old and can't properly interpret what's being told to them.
