Glasses for 3D suck, but they are currently the only tech ready for home TVs, glasses-less parallax barrier screens like those used by 3DS are only good for single user application.

So the situation is a lot better for 3DS, but it's still strictly confined to the portable market, portable consoles, phones, portable media players and TVs, etc. People wont buy many 3D TVs with glasses, but they'll just have to wait to have a better 3D solution for home, 3DS, if successful, will surely push research, but in the meantime it won't be a solution forhome, people will only be able to have glasses-less 3D on portables and choose between glasses 3D or good old 2D for home TVs. Will people just stop watching TV? This would be too good to be true!

Bullshit. By the time3D glasses TVs get cheap enough to own, there will be glasses-less TVs ready to go. It's already an obsolete tech, thanks to Nintendo.

I'd love to know how Nintendo could possibly advertise their USP of 3D without glasses without mentioning that you don't need glasses at some point, and of course, mentioning that you don't need glasses isn't quite the same as saying 'ZOMG, 3D glasses are evil, they will rape your retina and melt your brain, burn them... wipe them from existence'... But then we gamers have always been good for incessant hyperbole.

It really is no different to Sony bigging up Blu Ray or 'teh power of teh cell' amongst many of their own USPs when all is said and done...

If I hated Sony then why did I buy a 60GB PS3 and why did I spend over $5000 USD on a 53" Bravia when they were bleeding edge technology? Why did I spend over $7,000 U.S.D. in the past 5 years on Sony products? I don't hate Sony, but I do dislike the people who blindly support Sony and get their heckles up everytime something remotely negative comes up about them and contrive various scenarios to make themselves feel better, like for instance 'Best selling 3rd place console'.

yeah, I can't believe some are calling Nintendo arrogant for that! It's like, the most natural thing to do with this kind of product. The message is simple, not arrogant and not directed towards Sony: "No more glasses [to see 3D]"
