Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft targets 5m Fable III sales, profits of $150m

So people are saying that Fable 3 can outsell Fable 2 by at least 1.5 Mil lifetime?

Please do tell me how that's so likely to happen...

A word of warning fellow members this thread is a trap. Not only is this goal reasonable, but it is also fairly likely. The goal alone is reachable via logical progression. The install base has greatly increased which decreases the sell through, and it increases the potential audience. The series review scores have improved over time, and they were pretty good to begin with. The sales of titles in the series has increased over time. Any one of these things gets Molyneaux to his goal, but all three together. Seriously how hard is it going to be for him to sell one out of eight 360 owners on this game alone. A successor to a game that was actually quite popular with players as a whole.

Actually they could sell 3.5-4M or identically to the first and the PC sales will carry them the rest of the way.

You forget the fact that the PC version will cannibalize the 360 version's sales. Also, being Microsoft, they will only release Fable 3 on 1 digital distribution service: GFW's Games on Demand... so no Steam, no Impulse, no Gamersgate, etc..

Because Fable 2 will easily sell 4m lifetime.

Fable 3 can reach the same mark plus PC version sales.

Please do tell me how that's NOT likely to happen...

4 million sounds about right.

hell, it might even reach 5 million. xbox 360s userbase is a lot higher now.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

I dearly wish that was the case as it will be the better version but I seriously doubt that happening.

october 26 i believe is the release. so i'm gonna keep posing here every now and again until then. as long as it dosent get locked (no reason really), we should have a very interesting discussion when that happens!!

"Don't go setting your goals or aspirations high thier Pete!  No, no, make sure you aim low." says the internet.

I liked Fable, but not enough to finish it.  I liked Fable II more and am looking forward to Fable III, I'm one of however many they sell, but I was before this thread was posted anyway.

August 06, still a way to go until October 26!!!

It will easily break a million sales but I think they are shooting really high on this one. Fable 2 did around 3 million.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
