JRPG's by far. The only WRPG's i have like this gen are Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Fallout 3 and Oblivion are soo fukkin boring that it made me lose interest in WRPG's. So yea the only WRPG's ill buy are those made by Bioware everyone else can piss off

It's getting close between JRPGs and WRPGs, but the gap will widen after this year (Two Worlds 2, Gothic 4, Fallout New Vergas, Fable 3)


I like your list though I would move ME2 at no. 1.

You would seriously dethrone the best game of this generation in favor of ME2 ?

As my list suggests, I love Mass Effect 2, but I think it focused a bit too much on third person shooting. I think ME1 did that a little bit better....somehow.

yet ME2 is superior in anything else than ME1

Its not about western vs japanese developed games per se..its more of genre vs genre. Demon soul is a japanese develeoped western style game.

The first thing will come to my mind when somebody mentions WRPGs is OPEN WORLD games

Demon's souls wasn't an open world game, it had straight-line levels which you can play through as many times as you want.

So, edit your post please :p.

Demon's Souls is JRPG.

Anyway...Demon's Souls is the best RPG from the two list so far.

So which one do you prefer?
For me, it will be definitely WRPG's. I've played all 5 of those Wrpgs and they all deserve those high scores.


Where is Demon's souls ?

it stands at 90 on metacritic , the highest rated jrpg

anyway, Demon's souls and FFXIII are enough for me to prefer jrpgs.

Just because it is made in Japan doesn't make it a JRPG. It has more in common with WRPGs as far as I can tell. The real distinction should be Computer RPGs and Console RPGs, as that's what they really are (though that's changed a lot this gen).
