Forums - Microsoft - Rumor: Microsoft Says Kinect Not $150! Gives New Price!

This sounds completly made up if I'm honest, any blog/site can make up a story like that, where is the proof?

As I always say .. wait for confirmation .. why are people so impatient these days.

I personally think the $150 price was set by Microsoft and they have not officially announced it because they want to see how pre-orders at that price go; being that there are still pre-orders available from the retailers I checked, I don’t think they’re going all that well.

Basically, it is a fairly simple strategy to follow ...

If you track the number of pre-orders from retailers you should be able to determine interest at a particular price (to a point); and this tracking could be handled by giving out pre-order allocations and telling retailers they can acquire more pre-order allocations after initial allocations have sold out. If you have a product which burns through 500,000 pre-orders in a day you can (probably) be fairly certain that people think the price is fair, but if you have a product that struggles to sell 50,000 units after a month it is probable that people think it is too expensive or unappealing.

The thing that makes the $120 price Epic is the fact its only one thing you need to buy.

For the Move you need to spend $130 on all full set of stuff. Then $99 per person, correct?

Kinect is a better deal for 2 player games for sure.

Although I still think it stupid for MS to charge $60 for there Kinect games when the move ones are $40...Thats a big deal, at least to me.

Crushing a rumor by giving a rumor?

Oh...how smart of them...... >.>

I thought we had seen leaked prices from canada of lower prices for kinect games?

Really? Well I hope so because $60 motion control games aint ganna cut it.

i was actually just gonna make that point, for 2 players kinect is cheaper but kinect games are more expensive.

plus you have usability issues like standing sitting distance etc......

all in all i feel the price for kinect is $150 but microsoft will sell it cheaper at a bigger loss to get more penetration and make up with software which is a big win for consumers, i predict $99 - $129 for kinect, or it will remain at $150 with a pack in game.

i really hope the new motions controls do well for microsoft and sony.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I just wanna know how much it really costs MS to produce these and between the studio acquisition months ago how much they need to sell to profit. There was a article floating around earlier that $150 was the break even point, so how MS is going to lose $30 per camera sold? I seriously doubt that.

It's just that simple.

$120 is Right where i said it would be originally. Day one if true. but rumors are rumors.

$150 would be pushing it.

no anything over $100 is pushing it.

I still remember the times when we thought it was going tobe $50, now $120 is called epic.

LOL when your beaten up bad anything that helps the pain ease a bit is VERY GOOD!

What a petty post....

Anyone who actually feels down or beaten up over something like videogames is just sad.

Still believe that MS is not announcing pricing until they are ready to announce new SKUs and new pricing for the SKUs this fall.  They dont want to slow sales of new 360 S or the clearance of Arcades and Elites.

MS doesnt want to announce 360 S with Kinect for $299 for the fall and have people hold off.  They want to clear the existing Arcades and Elites at the $50 reduced price.  Not be forced to reduce another $50.

Think about it if they announced that for the fall the following:

360 S Arcade $179.99 with 16GB USB drive
360 S Arcade with Kinect $279.99 and 16GB USB drive
360 S 250GB $249.99
360 S 250GB with Kinect $349.99

Who would go out and purchase the existing Arcade, Elite and even the new 360 S?

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
