@ PureDante: Well I can't say much to help, I'm new to this game and MMO's in general. I don't know if you're doing something wrong and I'm not in the same region. All I can say is try to go to other places. You can easilly run to Gridania (takes a long time to get there though) and there's a boat to Limsa. Maybe if you do some leves there you'll level up easier. I'm level 16 and rank 12 conjurer. Sure my job is overpowered but I know plenty of people over my level with different jobs.
To go to Gridania, you just need to follow the path in Uldah, going all the way east and there's a boat to Limsa if you go all the way west. I really recommend you doing that. Just remember to touch the crystals when going, so if something happens you don't start all the way back and also you can teleport there again. There's different ennemies so you will probably find something that gives you good exp. and doesn't kill you, lol.
You should be patient about FFXIV... My fiance told me FFXI was already out for a year in Japan before it came out elsewhere, so the game was already sorted out and complete. Also, some people he knows are waiting a year before starting to play... Maybe you should do that? Up to you, personally I look beyond the issues and I prefer to play while no one knows how the game works. I like to find things by myself.
I do however agree the game is flawed in places and it feels incomplete. Many people have complained about certain things you mentionned so hopefully S-E will listen (they're actually changing the markets with an idea that my fiance suggested). I've been having fun with it personally, minus some frustrating moments with crafting not working at all (it was broken for a while, I dunno if it's fixed now). I've been mostly solo or playing with people in the LS I'm in, so I can't comment on the community. I've asked once a question though and no one answered. So maybe you're right.
