Abyssea is tons of fun as well. It is pretty much how I lvl up those jobs to 80. Once you reach EXP cap in abyssea, you get 610EXP per kill. Some people stay in there for 8 hours from time extensions..

I think i'm gonna end up paying for 2 mmos per month now lol.

It is definitely decided. Will get FFXIV for PC and PS3.

S-E has stated there will be a special discount for people who continue play FFXI and FFXIV at the same time.

Just signed up for the PS3 BETA :) 

Normally I don't sign up for BETA's cause I fear I'll become bored of the game before it hits retail. But seeing as FINAL FANTASY XI is in my top 3 of worst games of all time and I love FINAL FANTASY games and I am bored of WoW this will be my first BETA if I get invited :)

 

Hope the game is fun and a nice change from playing WoW and copycat games (LOTRO and WAR :p) and isn't terribly boring like its predecessor.

Anyone played the Beta?

I would like to know how the gameplay goes

Is it like FFXI

Is it like WoW

Is it like WAR/DAoC

Is it like Conan

Is it like Aion

etc etc?

I can live with anyone but the FFXI one



If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

It's an entirely different game. and it doesn't feel like any of the games you listed. But you will have a big feel of nostalgia since the characters are meant to look similar from the ones from XI.

Today Square-Enix has slightly fully lifted the NDA. It is now ok for any beta tester to post their impressions of the game. That also applies to this thread.

Also they have also announced that they WILL be doing an open beta!

The application period for the upcoming open beta on Windows® is also scheduled to commence in the near future. (If you actually get it, please actually TEST the game)

They lifted it? Seriously? Finally! I can now safely say that the Beta doesn't work so well on my laptop. ~_~ If I want to play I have to use my fiance's PC. UGH! I hate being tied to a desktop! But I'm not sure if I'll be a regular player. I realised that MMOs just aren't my thing. So many things I don't like about them. I got to admit that my Miqo'te was incredibly adorable though.

Now let's hope my fiance doesn't neglect me too much by playing the game all the time and spend time with online people instead of an *actual person*, me. >_>

I hear they made a MAJOR improvement to the mouse controls at the start of Phase 3.

 

Also VIDEOS from beta still fall under the NDA. But beta impressions and screenshots don't.
